Returning to Campus
This Return to Campus guide serves as a quick reference guide to highly the responsibilities
 and reminders for Collegiate Chapters. Additionally, it possesses the resources that are
 available to assist in the operations of the Chapter.

 As chapters prepare for the next academic year, it is important to know the specific
 rules and requirements for student organizations from both the University and
 School/College of Pharmacy. Developing a system to keep up with any changes in
 processes and policy is key to smooth chapter operations.

 Kappa Psi has numerous resources and references available to our members that
 can be found on the Kappa Psi website at kappapsi.org. Additionally, our insurance
 carrier, Holmes Murphy, has a variety of references that may be of use to your
 chapter. Their resources can be found on their website at

Chapter Operations
1. Establish a plan for receiving and implementing updates to University and
   School/College of Pharmacy policies and requirements no less than
   monthly.

2. If the chapter is unable to adhere to a portion of their local ordinances due to
   restrictions in place at their University or School/College of Pharmacy,
   temporary procedures should be agreed upon by chapter members.
      o If chapters wish to conduct virtual meetings while utilizing electronic
          platforms, the chapter members should agree upon the alternative
          meeting format. Contact the Grand Counselor with questions regarding
          chapter operations at grandcounselor@kappapsi.org.

3. The Chapter Officer Training Manual describes the nature and duties of the
   required and common officers of a Collegiate Chapter. Review all Due Dates
   for required form submission and task completion.
     o Submit the Chapter Officer and Address roster by October 15th.

4. The chapter budget for 2022-2023 should be reviewed and updated, if needed.
     o Reminder: Tax Return Form (990) for most chapters are due May 15th.
        Directions for filing annual taxes.
     o Verify with The Central Office that all dues, risk management fees and invoices
        are paid.

5. All collegiate chapter activities should be approved by a faculty Grand Council
   Deputy (GCD). If a faculty GCD is not available, approval may be granted by a
   faculty advisor or other assigned School/College of Pharmacy approved staff or
   faculty member.
      o Grand Council Deputies should review the Grand Council Deputy
         Manual annually.
      o The GCD Verification Form must be submitted annually by
         October15 or within 30 days of election for the GCD and Faculty
         Advisor (or co-GDCs, if applicable).
      o GCDs can reference the Fall Semester-Keys to Success
         Presentation to prepare for the semester.

6. A Risk Assessment Form should be completed for all chapter activities and
   events. This should include professional, fundraising, and social events
   conducted in person or in a virtual/online format. Include health or disability
   precautions and any new policy updates from the University or School/College
   of Pharmacy.
      o The Risk Management Policy must be reviewed annually. Each Brother or
         Pledge must complete the Risk Management Policy Acknowledgement
         Form.
      o If your Chapter has questions regarding Risk Management,
         submit your questions using the Risk Management Inquiry
         Form.

7. Additional resources, such as recorded webinars, text notifications and
   award/scholarship forms can be found on the Brother Section of the
   Kappa Psi webpage.

8. Submit your Chapter Activity Report after you host or
   complete philanthropic event.

9. The MASK submission dates are: July 1, October 1, December 1 and
   March 1. Articles and pictures can be submitted to mask@kappapsi.org.
     o The current issue of The MASK is available online.
     o All issues of The MASK can be viewed on The MASK
        Archive.

10. Review your Chapter’s local ordinances annually.
     o Templates and Guides for reviewing and updating local ordinances
     o All amendments to local ordinances need to be submitted to the Grand
         Counselor within 7 days.

11. Chapters may utilize the Kappa Psi access to the online platform
    Zoom, free-of-charge. Click here to request a Zoom meeting
      o Contact the Collegiate Member-at-Large with questions on
         Zoom meeting access at collatlarge@kappapsi.org

Rituals

1. Copies of the ritual book should NOT be made and distributed in either print
   or electronic form for any reason.
        o Chapters may purchase Ritual Books from the Kappa Psi Store.
        o The current copy of the Ritual Book is the 2020 edition.

2. Chapters are encouraged to complete rituals in-person; however, chapters
   wishing to utilize the ritual to open and close a chapter meeting via online
   platforms can only do so if security is maintained. This includes password
   protections on meetings and members assigned to monitor the virtual attendee
   list. If the chapter chooses to utilize this ritual, multiple members are required to
   have physical copies of the ritual handbook. The sharing of these secret rituals by
   chapters electronically is prohibited. If the above items cannot be ensured, the
   ritual should not be performed.

3. The ritual for the Installation of Officers can be conducted virtually or in a
   public area as this ritual does not contain secret material and is often
   conducted at public gatherings.

4. Chapters with local restrictions on in-person meetings should contact the
   Grand Ritualist at grandritualist@kappapsi.org for additional guidance on
   completing rituals.

5. Contact the Grand Ritualist for access to additional ritual resources, such as
   video clips, at grandritualist@kappapsi.org.

Recruitment and
                      New Member Education
1. Kappa Psi does not mandate specific rushing and pledging activities for
   established chapters. Specific requirements (e.g., philanthropy, social,
   scholarship events) are only in place for new colonies; however, this structure is
   commonly utilized by chapters.
      o A copy of the Kappa Psi Recruitment Presentation is available for use.
      o The Rush and Pledging Guide is available to see examples of other
         Chapter’s events.
      o Recruitment brochures are available from The Central Office
      o The Handbook is available to assist throughout he The Central
         Office.
      o Chapters wishing for guidance about educational content can
         reference the Educational Outline. If chapters wish to utilize the
         full set of lessons stemming from this outline, please reach out to
         centraloffice@kappapsi.org.

2. All Kappa Psi social media policies should be considered when creating rushing
   and pledging materials. Maintaining positivity about the fraternity is essential
   to continue to recruit strong members for years to come.

3. The Chapter is to instruct pledges on the Risk Management Policy and
   Procedures. Pledges are to sign the Risk Management Acknowledgement Form
   prior to or at the start of the first Pledge meeting/activity.

4. Pledge Cards are to be completed by each Pledge at the start of the first Pledge
   meeting/activity.

5. Membership Cards (M-Cards) and the Member fee of $45 are to be submitted for
   new members to The Central Office within 7 days of initiation.

6. The Chapter GCD or Faculty Advisor should be notified and approve all of the
   activities for the Chapter’s rushing and pledging processes.
