A very happy new year to you all and welcome
to our first catalogue of 2021 for our auction
sale on the 17th of February!

I’ll make no apologies for beginning this introduction on
a more sombre note than usual; as I write this the UK
has just passed the very sobering milestone of 100,000
Covid-related deaths. On behalf of everyone at Strettons,
I would like to take a moment to express our deepest
condolences to every one of our clients who has lost
friends and loved ones to this horrible disease.

As ever when I sit down to write these introductions,
I look back at what I wrote for the corresponding
catalogue in the previous year; it’s quite shocking to think
that, in retrospect, none of us had any real inkling as to
what a dramatic and life-changing impact Covid-19 would
have on all of our lives. And reading the notes that I
wrote in January of 2020, I am struck by how optimistic
I was at the prospect of a deal being struck for the UK
to leave the European Union and that at that time, I
wouldn’t have even considered the prospect of remote
auctions, internet bidding, virtual viewings and the way
in which the Strettons auction team and I would have to
adapt.

All that notwithstanding, in terms of our results, 2020
was a very positive year for us; we sold over £74.8M of
