WHAT IS AN ACADEMY An Academy is a school-within-a-school that connects core academic subjects with a particular career field. An Academy offers a career path sequence that prepares students to achieve high academic standards and superior work skills. The Academies of Renaissance Charter School at Cooper City provide qualified students with a curriculum of academic rigor, integrated with hands-on experiences in preparation for future endeavors in high school and college.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • Minimum ‘B’ Average • NWEA/EOC/FSA Reading Level 3 or higher for Health & General Medicine and Pre-Engineering Academies • NWEA/EOC/FSA Reading Level 2 or higher for Pre-Business Academy • Online Writing Sample • Exemplary Attendance & Discipline Records • Student Application required for admission due by June 21, 2020 .
VISUAL ART ACADEMY • Students will have access to the latest artistic tools & techniques • High School credit for instruction in 2D, 3D, Ceramics, and Digital Art • Use of professional digital technology such as Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator *Student application required for admission.
VISUAL ART ACADEMY COURSES • 6th Graders (and incoming NEW 7th/8th students) that are interested in the Visual Arts Academy will need a portfolio of 5-10 artworks with different techniques and materials to LReyesRamirez@recscoopercity.org • High School 2D Art 1 (7th-8th) • High School 3D Art (7th-8th) • High School Digital Design 1 - Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator Industry Certifications (7th-8th)
BUSINESS & LEADERSHIP ACADEMY • Learn & develop communication skills in a variety of formats and contexts • Use of technology and current software programs to link business curriculum to real-world applications • Understanding professional & ethical responsibilities in society • Developing leadership skills *Student application required for admission.

HEALTH AND GENERAL MEDICINE ACADEMY • Core academic courses lined to health care and general medicine • Integrated courses that eliminate the compartmentalization of subject areas and helps students make connections between courses and real life • Accelerated, Honors and regular courses • Work study program with mandatory volunteer experience (20 hours required) • Earn CPR & AED certification from the American Heart Association *Student application required for admission.
