Published Bi-Weekly for the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska • Volume 49, Number 10 • Saturday, May 13, 2020 Bago Bits… May 5th was National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. This day is for tribal communities to remember our strong Native women and bring awareness to this crisis. On May 4th, the old halfway house was demolished by our Tribal Roads Depart- ment. The building was over 100 years old; construction on a new halfway house will begin soon. A huge THANK YOU to all the tribal security guards that are implementing the new policy that requires a face mask must be worn to enter local businesses. No Mask, No Service! During a home basketball game on January 10th, the Winnebago Indian cheerleaders held a tribute to raise awareness for our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). Although the graduation ceremony has been postponed to August 1st, families of the WPS graduates came together to honor the class of 2020 with a drive by parade throughout the community!
