IN A FEW WORDS
The Foundation Santé Urbaine contributes to the physical and psychological health of patients
and clients of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) of
Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. The Foundation provides financial support for projects that
have a positive impact on the clientele of two hospitals (Verdun and Notre-Dame), 14 long-term
care facilities and 8 CLSCs.
Since November 2018, it has served a population of near 300,000 residents living in socioeconomic
conditions that are less favourable than those of all the other territories in the Montreal region.
Issues such as addiction, domestic violence, loss of autonomy, significant school dropout rates,
homelessness, psychological issues, adaptation difficulties and degenerative diseases are
omnipresent in this community. Through its involvement in many of the facilities of the Centre–Sud
health network, the Foundation is able support patients through every challenge they face along
the way, regardless of their age or the health issues they face.

“I was diagnosed with inflammatory
breast cancer in 2015, at the age of 33.
It was a real shock. The hardest part was
learning how to live differently. Thanks
to the Foundation’s transportation
service, I didn’t have to deal with
the stress of organizing rides to the
hospital. Knowing I would arrive on
time for my medical appointments
gave me so much peace of mind.”

THE REAL IMPACT OF OUR WORK?

“For the last six years, I’ve had to go to the hospital for my hemodialysis
treatments three times a week for four hours at a time. The Foundation
has allowed me to work with a trainer before each session. It’s become my
routine, and something I need. I can tell my kidneys are getting better, and
I have a social life again. I’d like to say thanks to the Foundation.”

“Every year, we treat over 200 people who are dealing with chronic
homelessness and psychiatric issues. The Foundation has enabled us to
provide patients who are getting out of homelessness with a “start-up kit”
that includes new sheets, kitchen supplies and gift cards for grocery stores,
all valued at about $250 per person.”

came to play in my husband’s hospital room, as part
of a project made possible by the Foundation, we
were instantly transported, suddenly a million miles
away from the hospital. It was a breath of fresh air, a
beautiful artistic experience, truly a gift!”

THE BAL URBAIN
The Bal urbain is our charity ball, an unmissable event
for health care professionals in the Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-
de-Montréal. The worlds of business, politics and health
all come together for a night of celebration in honour of
the incredible work of health care professionals.
We owe the success of this event to the invaluable
support of our many renowned partners over the years,

Compass, and Air Canada. Thanks to their commitment
