CORTE MADERA IS
BETTER WITH BIKES.
It says exactly these words in
the Trek bicycle showroom,
merely a mile down the road
from an undeveloped parcel
of land that's quite keenly
suited and situated for an
awesome community pump
track.

SO … WHAT IS A PUMP TRACK?
A pump track is designed for all things on wheels and is accessible to all. From mountain bikes to
BMXes to skateboards and scooters. It’s a circuit of rollers, banked turns, and features designed to
be ridden completely by riders pumping, instead of pedaling or pushing. Teaching the basic skills
of carrying momentum, balance, coordination and speed by using your arms and legs to power
your bike/board/scooter around the track. As one gets better … the tracks are designed to provide
more challenges with no changes to the construction. A feature that a 5-year-old can roll through
can be used as a gap jump for a professional.

Pump tracks provide the opportunity for communities to be innovative and promote an active
outdoor lifestyle; encouraging all generations to be healthy, fit and active. (Velosolutions* pump
tracks have become a hive of community activity.) But most importantly they are FUN. Pump
tracks are the modern day outdoor playground for all ages.

                                                                                               3

THE COVE SCHOOL
Located on the corner of Paradise Drive and Golden Hind Passage, at the eastern
entrance to Mariner Cove, attached to The Cove School and adjacent to San Clemente
Park, with an approximate area of 17,000 sqft — it's a perfect spot for a professionally built,
12,000 sqft asphalt pump track ... ideal for teaching basic bike skills to beginners. It's
served by parking and restrooms at the very same park.

For the regarded heritage of biking in Marin County, it is worth honoring that, advocating
and providing access with as many opportunities as can be. This will not simply serve the
immediate town and bike community but the greater at large; skateboards, inline skates,
and scooters, as well.

                                                                                          5

PROGRESSIVE BIKE RAMPS (PBR) is a Design & Construction company that specializes in Sustainable
Bike Park and Trail Development. At PBR they are dedicated to sustainability and innovation
and believe that public access to permanent bike recreation infrastructure should be a part of
every community. They design and construct every type of Bike Recreation Area including Bike
Parks, Mountain Bike Trails, Bicycle Playgrounds and Pump Tracks that become gathering
places for communities of all shapes and sizes.

Not too long ago, public agencies provided facilities for most sports, but mountain biking was
often overlooked. Mountain bikers had to rely on their own initiative to advocate for, design,
fund and construct the Bike Parks and Trails they love. PBR is working to change that by coming
alongside both Land Managers and Community Groups to assist them throughout process,
providing affordable professional planning and development services that lead to successful
bike recreation projects that will endure for generations to come.

I get stoked in the ocean, on the hill, and in the city: surfing,
snowboarding, and skating — from the way back when. I’m excited by
mid-century design and Spanish houses; good books, classic BMX bikes,
road trips, the great outdoors (pitching a tent, steelhead fishing, bird
hunting); Tumblr blogs, and an annual sojourn south to Mainland Mexico.
I find kind reward in: long, solo runs, mentoring a small collective of
upstart industry kids. A SUPER FAN of my wife, Kelly, son, Zephyr (9 1/2
yrs) and daughter, Tatum (6 yrs).

PROJECT FUNDRAISING
The agenda here is to raise all required capital for the project via company and individual
tax-deductible donations from within our area and community, with these monies
received and distributed through a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that would then
also engage the contractors, directly.

I am in early stage conversations with a very interested Marin County Bicycle Coalition
regarding fiscal sponsorship; their advocacy and support. Additionally, numerous viable
leads have been identified (but not yet actively explored) as to those that would
contribute to the cuase with the NGO, Access4Bikes, the first to express their intent to
write a check.
