CHILDREN’S STORY TIME PROGRAMS Drag King and Queen Story Time Join us for our first ever Drag King and Queen story time, featuring Skim and Cheryl Trade! There will be a question & answer period after the performance. Skim is a non binary lesbian. They are currently in their king era of drag and love all colours! Skim is a member of the House of Rice–an all Asian drag house in Vancouver. Cheryl Trade is a TwoSpirit Queer Indigenous Drag Queen from Treaty 6 Territory in Northern Saskatchewan. She is passionate about blending her Cree heritage and upbringing with her drag performances and shows. HOMEWORK HELP Our homework help programs are held in person and online. To participate via Zoom, you must have access to a computer with a camera, microphone and speakers. All sessions are monitored by library staff. Reading Buddies Teens earn community service hours by helping kids become better readers. For summer sessions: • Big Buddies must be at least 14 years old and have just completed grade 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12. • Little Buddies must have completed kindergarten, grade 1, 2, 3, or 4. FOR TWEENS & TEENS—GET CREATIVE! Creating Worlds Together For kids ages 8–12 Do you love to draw? This program is for you! Joins us for a creative drawing workshop led by Elaine Chen, the BC Summer Reading Club artist of 2022. Participants will be prompted to work together to create a believable world, where perhaps a little art magic can happen. FOR NEWCOMER YOUTH A Newcomer’s Guide to Coquitlam: Walking Tour For newcomer youth and their families Whether you are from a faraway country, the U.S., or other parts of Canada, come on a walking tour to learn more about your new community: Coquitlam. Beginning at the City Centre Branch, the newcomer tour will focus on the Town Centre area. You can learn about the businesses and services nearby, plus pick up some history and geography.
