Covid-19 • Level 1 – normal play • Level 2 – play but with restrictions. Year 4 & 5 play on a Sunday morning • Level 3 & 4 – no play • Please stay away if unwell • Use Tracer App • Can use Team Cards for players 2
Year 4 • Played Monday and Saturdays • Monday – 4.00 pm and 4.50 pm – Note … Year 9 are now on Monday • Saturdays – approx. 8.30 am and 9.20 am 3
Year 5 & 6 • Played Wednesdays and Saturdays • Wednesdays – 4.00, 4.50, 5.40 and 6.30 pm • Saturdays – approx. 9.20 am onwards 4
Year 4 and 5 • Ball – Size 4 • Hoop height – 2.6 m • No Arena Teams will need to turn hoops around on Wednesdays 5
The Competition Teams – All teams need to report to the Control Room /Desk • Collect scorecards • Team cards –must be completed before the game starts and returned to the Control Room that night. • Any players filling in for your team must be noted on the card – name and team they are in eg, T2. Non registered players must be registered to play. 6
The Competition Time on Court • Every Primary player must have at least half a game on court each week. • Over the 14/12 weeks, players must be played fairly across the weeks, ie no player having full game every week for the sake of others having ½ games every week • This applies to all Year 4, 5 & 6 teams 9
The Competition Boys – Can have up to three boys playing on court at one time – Cannot have two boys playing in the circle at the same time GA and GS or GK and GD – Instant loss by default – Watch the rotations! 10
The Competition Substitutions – Must be made from lower teams. – “3 Up Rule” – player welfare and care. Only applies for Grade 1 on Wednesday in the competition games. – On the score card write the child’s name and the team he/she belongs to. For e.g., “Josie Smith 6/2” or “T3”. – Any non registered players must be registered. Additional Player registration form, $10 fee. • A substitute cannot come from a higher graded team! – instant loss by default 11
Competition Substitutions • All rotation games (Year 4/5) – Sub at half time only – max 3 subs • Year 6 games – Changes can be made any quarter – Entirely up to coach – As long as each child plays at least ½ a game each week and everyone has equal court time over the competition 12
Competition Substitutions Injury • Rotations o Substituted player takes the position of injured player o No other players are to change positions o Next break, rotations continue with substituted player taking rotations for injured player o If injured player returns to the game, the child must return to their designated position o If a player short, just play without a position for the entire game, players “jump” that position 13
Competition Substitutions Injury • Year 6 • Coach can make any changes to any players on the court during an injury break • Opposition may also make changes • Player can return to the game at the next break. • If position is left vacant player can return as long as umpire is informed. • Cannot “swap” players’ positions on court during the game 14
Competition All Year 4, 5 and 6 games • Quarters are 10 minutes long • Four quarters – 1 minute between quarter • 2 minute half time. • Timer will sound for all quarters • Year 4 & 5 swap ends at half time only • Year 6 swap ends at each quarter • Umpires whistle starts and stops the game, not the hooter! 15
Games • Grading – Term 2 • 8 teams in each grade for all competitions • 7 grading games for all • Teams will start roughly in the seeding positions of the 2019 Year 5 final placings • Can “borrow” players from opposition if struggling with players • Competition – Term 3 • End up in grade, 7 competition games • Rules tighten up • Points awarded – 4 points for win, 2 for a draw, 1 for close game, 0 for loss. Team defaults opposition gets 4 points 16
Defaults • Please let your School Coordinator know! • Must advise NNH by 12.00 pm on the day of default OR by Friday, 12.00 pm for Junior Netties so we can inform the other team. Failure to do so will result in a $50 default fee being invoiced to the school • Loss by default – Cannot field five players within 5 minutes of the commencement of the game – You field a player from a higher graded team – Two boys in the playing circle 17
Deferments • No Deferments – Grading games, teams will be left off the draw if away (ie camp) – Competition games loss by default if your team is away 18
Scoring ❖1 person from each team to stand together mid-court on bench side ❖Do not need to “share” the scorecard ❖Scorecard goes to the umpires during the breaks ❖A team official (Coach, Scorer, Manager, Umpire) signs the card at the end of the card. ❖If children are taking score, they MUST be supervised. ❖Return scorecard promptly to the Control Room ❖The official score is taken from the score card. ❖Can still use the flip charts 19

Uniforms ❖All players must be in the correct school playing uniform. ❖Exemptions must come through the School Coordinator ❖Boys – ensure they are playing in similar uniform colours to girls and are wearing appropriate sports clothing ❖All players must wear appropriate sports shoes ❖No track pants ❖Thermals are allowed but must be of similar colour ❖On the really cold, wet and windy days, happy for jackets or jerseys to be worn as long as bibs can be seen. 22
Uniforms ❖Hair tied back with as little hair ties/ribbons as possible ❖Plaits tied down ❖NO JEWELLERY, taping of earrings is not allowed (warn players not to get ears pierced during netball season) ❖No plaster casts ❖No rubber wrist bands or watches ❖Can wear medical alert bracelets but must be taped 23
First Aid ▪ Team has a First Aid Kit ▪ Nail clippers, hair ties, plasters ▪ Physio is located in the SIC Clinic next to Coffee Shop ▪ Junior Netties, First Aider on site and Emergency Clinic next door at Westlake ▪ Ice in the control room and at desk for Junior Netties ▪ If a player has a medical condition make sure adults who are with the team are aware of the condition and appropriate medication is on site with the child 24
Umpires o Each team to supply their own umpire o If a young umpire, ensure that young person has a support person on the sideline o All coaches, players and spectators are to respect the umpire’s decision – do not approach Umpires! o If there are problems, please report to the Control Room during the game. Cannot deal with issues after the game. o Do NOT Coach/Umpire a team. If you are doing a dual role you cannot Coach your team during the game. 25
Umpires o NNH does not have a “pool” of umpires. May have some available on the night but there are no guarantees o If you are supplied an umpire the team will need to pay the umpire o Year 6 Grade 1 – will have neutral umpires with qualifications for competition round, we will be in touch with those teams. o Coaches/Managers are not to approach umpires. Only team captains 26
Cancellations ▪ Netball is rarely cancelled ▪ Please ask parents to check our website www.netballnorthharbour.co.nz for the Status of Play. Do not ring the office ▪ OR Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and the App ▪ Decision is made at 1.00 pm or 7.00 am (Saturday) ▪ Endeavour to email and ring schools by 2.00 pm (week day) 27
Other Notes ▪ Each school has one roster night during the season. Report to the Control Room on your night ▪ Make sure everyone is aware of the rules at the courts – no dogs, bikes, scooters, skateboards, stilleto heels, umbrella points in the ground, smoking, chewing gum, prams parked sideways on court ▪ Arena – no food or drink (only water bottles), no stilletos ▪ No food on courtside during Primary ▪ Young siblings are supervised ▪ Function Room is open ▪ Warm up teams in designated areas (not carpark) ▪ Monday & Wednesday – Cts 3, 4, 5 28

Carparks • Netball North Harbour – Manned by the Maori Wardens – Left hand turn only at exit – Restriction of 180 minutes until 6 pm. • WGHS & Glenfield Colleges – Morning games leave middle carpark for soccer and hockey at Westlake – Smales Farm has some car parking – Glenfield – parking in the main carpark entrance or Kaipatiki Road next to the courts 30
Problems – If you have a problem during the game, please go to the Control Room DURING the game. It’s very hard to fix on court issues after the game – Do not approach umpires or team officials from the opposition – All players, team officials and spectators are representing their school and any major issues will be dealt with through the schools – Positive and encouraging words are the only words we should hear on the side of the court 31

Draws • The draw is on the website www.netballnorthharbour.co.nz • And on the App! – download it from your App store. • Make sure your team knows the time and court they are playing on! As well as your umpire! 33
Before the Game • Always report to the Control Room/Desk to collect: – Scorecard (if the opposition has not picked it up already) – Teamcard (try to fill out at the beginning and return BEFORE the game!) • Make sure nails, jewellery, hair, etc is taken care of • Toilet! • Scorers are in place 34
During the Game • Ensure you and the opposition mark the scorecard together beside the court • Send someone to the office when things are going bad – we like to address things as they happen! • Drinks tray • Do not pace up and down the side of the court. 35
After the Game • Scorecard is signed • Ensure team cards are completed • Return the score card to the Office • TAKE EVERYTHING HOME!, including children! 36

BOARD OF FAME If you come across an opposition who have been wonderful to play and you just want to tell everyone how great they were THEN Nominate them to go on our our Board of Fame!. Come to the office or send us an email. Teams selected for the Board of Fame are in a draw to receive the Fair Play Cup at the end of the year 41

Points to Remember • If by the time you get to your last people and the only positions left are ones they played last week – Don’t Fret. Just asterisk the player to indicate to our checkers that you are aware of the repetition and will address it next week. • Ensure your boys do not end up in the goal circle together are this is a no no! Try to start them at GS, C, GK 55
KEY – to make life easier! If you are staying in the same change as the week before i.e., TEAM 1 to TEAM 1 or TEAM 2 to TEAM 2 Then START the child in the LAST position (4th quarter) they played the week before 56

Points to Remember • Write the players positions on the team card in the appropriate place • Team Card is located in the Control Room. • Pick it up at the beginning of the game and complete. Must go back to the Control Room, either at the beginning or end. 59

Moving the players • Tip – when the whistle goes at the end of the first quarter and third quarter, get the children to return to their starting positions, remove their bibs and put them on the ground for the next player. • Write the positions on the childrens’ arm, so they know where they are going 61
