comprehensive fly fishing programs from over ten diverse lodging
choices across the three most productive regions of Patagonia,
Argentina – Esquel, Rio Pico and San Martin de los Andes. Every trip
is customized according to the angler’s needs and desires, and trips
as short as three days or as long as three weeks are easily executed.
The PRG experience is a unique blend of inspiring waters, varied
fishing, beautiful scenery, interesting culture, lasting friendships and

Like all of PRG’s programs, PRG North offers the most complete all-inclusive programs in the country so anglers don’t have to worry about a single detail. The difference between PRG South, which manages only one lodge in each region, PRG North utilizes a portfolio of huge private estancias surrounding the quaint towns of San Martín and Junín de los Andes. The estancias offer first-class lodging, delicious food and wonderful service in addition to private access to Northern Patagonia’s best waters. The private estancia program is the best way to get a glimpse into authentic country lifestyle and culture at its best. Incredible rivers such as the Chimehuín, Aluminé, Collón Cura, Malleo, Traful, Limay and the Filo Hua Hum offer guests some of the best dry fly fishing in all of South America. Hatches are prevalent including unique giant yellow mayflies, aphids, and willow worms. Classic mayfly, stonefly and caddis hatches - similar to those in the Western US - also bring fish to the surface, while pancora crabs and minnow runs keep trout fat and super charged. Alex was born and raised in the region and started guiding for area outfitters and estancias when he was eighteen. Alex’s diverse experiences in the region helped form a wealth of knowledge, especially considering that his family has been involved in the industry for three generations. Alex books each PRG North trip and ensures that each and every guest has a trip of a lifetime! PRG North’s Estancia program is different from all other PRG Programs in that anglers can

pick and choose programs, lodges, and estancias that match their desires. Guests are matched

with one of PRG’s top guides and assistants. The guides stay on-site with the guests and often

join them for dinner. The estancia program is the most authentic program offered by PRG
where guests will enjoy a true working ranch, wide-open spaces, and private water within. Each
lodge or estancia house has distinct personnel, managers, and own culture. The history of the
estancias are apparent in that most areas have been settled for over a century, often being run
by the same families, thus experiencing very little development.
Long fishing days are the norm at the estancias, and it is not unusual to fish in the morning,
return to the estancia for a relaxing lunch, then resume fishing until dark. Another option is to
spend the entire day on the water, stopping to enjoy a wonderful picnic lunch set by the river.
Flexibility is the key to the estancia program and any length of stay from three days to two
weekscan be designed. In addition to the excellent estancias offered, PRG North is also home
to PRG Unplugged and any itinerary can also include a wilderness camping trip, offering a
unique way to experience 5-star lodges and 5-billion star skies in the same trip.

TOPTHE LODGE HIGH-END, 5-STAR LODGING EXPERIENCE TIPILIUKE LODGE AT ESTANCIA CERRO DE LOS PINOS Tipiliuke Lodge is located on the 50,000-acre Estancia Cerro de los Pinos that has been owned by the Larminat family since the early 1900s. This working estancia is home to over 4,000 cattle so you are likely going to see gauchos tending to their daily chores and riding horses throughout the property. Choosing to stay here affords guests with an incredible opportunity to be completely immersed in an authentic Argentine experience. The lodge offers five-star accommodations and is widely recognized as one of the finest in the world, renowned for its high-end service and incredible food. The lodge has a spacious layout featuring a comfortable living room with an open bar and an adjacent dining room. Bedrooms are spread throughout the lodge, providing accommodations for up to 16 guests at a time. TOPTHE LODGE TRANSFER TO THE LODGE AND CHECKING IN THE RIVER HOUSE AT TIPILIUKE Estancia Cerro Los Pinos and Tipiliuke Lodge offer an additional lodging option for those who have larger groups or would simply prefer a little bit more privacy. The River House, located on a neighboring ranch just 15 minutes away from the main lodge, can accommodate up to eight guests in four double rooms. Two suites offer private baths while the other two twin rooms share a bathroom. The main house is approximately 8600 square feet and is distributed over three spacious floors. Guests at River House can enjoy the luxury of being away from the main lodge while still experiencing a five-star lodging experience. The River House is managed by Tipiliuke Lodge, guaranteeing a very same high level of service, excellent food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The River House is an ideal option for non-anglers due to the privacy, coziness, and atmosphere of the lodge. Non-anglers enjoy all of the non-angling activities provided by Tipiliuke and PRG North, and because the River House is just a short drive to San Martin de los Andes, day trips can easily be arranged. 26 27

Olsen since 1976, but the estancia has been in his family since the 1890’s. Over the generations, the
Olsens have worked tirelessly to develop the lodge into the world-class destination that it is today.
The San Huberto Lodge is truly a fishing paradise, offering access to one of the greatest wading rivers
in all of Northern Patagonia with more than twenty miles of private access to the most productive
stretches of the Malleo River.
The beautiful lodge, which was completely renovated in 1999 and has room for up to 16 guests,
is truly a sight to behold. A spacious main floor features eight double and single rooms, offering
modern luxury and plenty of room for all guests to relax in their own space. A large great room
complete with a breathtaking fireplace offers an ideal setting for regaling other guests with fish tales
over cocktails prior to dinner. Outside, beyond a gorgeous patio, guests will find a unique “quincho”
where weekly asados take place. Non-angling guests can take advantage of an on-site tennis court
as well as horseback rides, golf, 4wd tours, and shopping opportunities nearby.

TOPTHE LODGE AN AUTHENTIC, HIGH-END ESTANCIA EXPERIENCE THE MAIN HOUSE AND LAKE CABIN AT ESTANCIA ARROYO VERDE Estancia Arroyo Verde is one of the finest fishing lodges in South America and was once described as the “best fishing lodge in the world” in Forbes Magazine. It is truly deluxe and offers an exceptionally high-end experience that is sure to impress even the most discerning guests. The estancia borders Nahuel Huapi National Park and is positioned within one of the most magical valleys in all of Patagonia. This is a breathtaking, crystal- WADE FISHING: FLOAT FISHING: clear river that flows through the property. Because of its technical nature, this river has a formidable reputation and offers quite the challenge for even the most experienced anglers. + Traful River + Upper Limay Sight fishing is the norm and anglers must be willing and prepared to fish dries, nymphs and + Filo Hua Hum River + Traful Lake streamers to wary fish in gin-clear water. Tres Rios Lodge is a breathtaking property that is one of the most recent in the PRG North fishing opportunities that are available from the lodge, there is a gorgeous stable complete with
lineup of lodging options. Owned by Lucas Rodriguewas, the lodge at Tres Rios was built in a fully stocked saddle room that is sure to have everything to please both the most discerning

unless weather conditions permit the use of the outdoor dining space. Outside, you’ll find a
beautiful outdoor asado area with a large fire pit and a dinner table surrounded by a beautifully

year. Throughout the fishing season, anglers can expect to experience a wide variety of aquatic
insect hatches in addition to some truly incredible terrestrial activity. It’s regarded as one of the
finest dry fly fisheries on the planet, and guests here can expect to be challenged and rewarded
for their efforts.

TOPTHE LODGE A RUSTIC, AUTHENTIC ESTANCIA EXPERIENCE THE MAIN HOUSE AT MAMUIL MALAL Estancia Mamuil Malal sits at the foot of the Lanin Volcano, just north of San Martin de los Andes. Prior to welcoming guests, this beautiful, historic estancia was established as a cattle ranch. The fourth-generation owners and operators, Bertil and Dolores Grahn, treat each guest like family. Anglers in search of an authentic estancia experience could scarcely do better than a trip to Mamuil Malal. The lodge itself can accommodate a maximum of eight anglers in four double rooms, each with their own private baths. The main house features a classic English-style living room with a large fireplace, a cozy sitting area, and a dining table. Adjacent to the main room there you’ll find an authentically decorated bar. Guest rooms are distributed throughout the second level and the owners occupy the third floor. Beyond the front porch there is a large lawn where guests often take time to relax beneath an apple tree, enjoying cocktails or waiting for an asado to take place amongst the trees. TOPTHE LODGE AN AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE ON A TRUE PATAGONIAN WORKING RANCH THE LODGE AT ESTANCIA QUEMQUEMTREU One of the largest estancias in all of Northern Patagonia, encompassing nearly 200,000 acres, Estancia Quemquemtreu is truly a sight to behold. During it’s inception over 100 years ago, this estancia operated as the original headquarters of what was once a one million-acre ranch. Now, the estancia is a working ranch that has more than 5000 head of Hereford cattle. They’re committed to environmental conservation. In fact, a nearby stream powers a turbine which provides constant energy for the whole community. What could make a stay at an estancia like this one even more spectacular? There is a 12-rod capacity here at Estancia Quemquemtreu so you can be sure that you’ve got plenty of room to yourself. Inside the main lodge, you’ll find a total of five double rooms and another five rooms in the “hunters” lodge, four double rooms and one single, just a short walk away. At the end of each day on the river, anglers convene in a cozy sitting room centered around a rock fireplace. The bar is located in a separate building just steps away through a beautiful garden and a picturesque asado pit. Two unique events on the Collón Cura are the willow worm hatch + Caleufu River that occurs during the summer months and the minnow run that usually begins in the middle of February. Covering over 80,000 acres, it’s unique positioning just inside the Lanin National Park offers some of the most spectacular views in all of Northern Patagonia. PRG’s Unplugged camps are truly deluxe and include a high level of service and surprising
amenities all while retaining an adventurous feel. Experienced and discerning guests will enjoy
spacious tents with two comfortable beds, one for each angler in double occupancy. The days
are long, but it’s easy to rest and recharge in beds made with fine cotton linen, warm comforters,
and down pillows. Camps are fully catered and come with a professional chef to prepare both
regional and gourmet meals, all cooked over the riverside fire! Our state-of-the-art pressurized
water system offers an endless supply of hot water for the private, enclosed shower. All camps
come with two bathroom facilities which are generally separated between men and women.
In addition, a unique 12-volt and LED lighting system for the tents, common areas, and trails,
making it easy to navigate the camp at any time of the night. The camp includes a fully stocked
bar with ice, mixers, beer, delicious wines, and snacks. Guests choosing PRG’s Unplugged
program do not need to pack anything extra or special for the trip and all camps include fresh
towels, bathrobes, soap, shampoo, and headlamps.
82 83FISHING PROGRAM Anglers have the opportunity to fish and explore remote areas, and PRG Unplugged trips are suitable for just about every angler. Trips of any length can be set up but guests normally spend between two and four days floating rivers such as Limay, Caleufu, or Aluminé. Each day during your Unplugged adventure, the entire PRG staff moves downstream in front of the guests to a new camp. Once there, they set everything up and prepare hors d’oeuvres and cocktails for fishermen to enjoy upon arrival. Because of the remoteness of the Unplugged program, guests have access to sections of river that few anglers get to fish. Since there is not commute time to the river, guests can also start as early as they would like in the morning and fish as late as they would like in the evening, some days covering as little as five miles of river and some days up to twenty miles any given day. Because of the length of day, the variety of water, and the unlimited fishing hours, guests can expect to spend their time fishing runs and catching numerous good size fish or targeting trophy fish. end lodges and some are extended trips which can include a variety of lodges, plus a couple of nights
camping and possibly a night in the town of San Martin de los Andes giving the adventurous anglers
a chance to see it all. Flexibility may be required as the itineraries and dates are already fixed.
