The Chairman Chris Reeves Chairman A very warm welcome is extended today to our friends from Beaconsfield in the shape of their players, officials and supporters. They have had some fine results among their games so far this season and we will have to be at our best if the three points are on the night, a quality goal from the well again to be won. Tony Lee and a well earned point in Wiltshire. An awful lot seems to have happened since This coming Tuesday evening sees our first clash my last set of notes produced for the FA Cup of the season with near neighbours Wimborne and tie with Chippenham two weeks ago. Those that weren’t football and I can assure you there are far worse there to see the quality of the performance ways of spending an evening! will perhaps only focus on the 1-0 defeat. Finally I have to mention our magnificent skipper The loss against Kings Langley last weekend Jamie Whisken who completed 350 appearances was quite literally one of those afternoons for the Club in the first game v Chippenham. that in all probability will never be repeated. We have been privileged to have had Jamie in The catalogue of misfortune that the lads our ranks for so many years. The Captain Jamie Whisken Captain Afternoon All, Big home game today, a game we massively need to get three points in!!! After last Saturdays away result, which was obviously disappointing, we bounced back with a solid performance versus Salisbury. A game in which we were adamant we deserved the win. With our goals (One which was offside & a stone wall penalty) we should have had, but we’ll take the performance and move on. Beaconsfield always prove to be a tough test for us. It’ll take a big performance to get the three points but we’re ready for the battle. Get behind the lads, this will be a huge three points and propel us back amongst it. C'mon you Dolphins!!!!!! ‘Get behind the Whisk lads, this will w w w . P O O L E T O W N F C . C O . Chairman’s Update I do not usually react to negative postings on the Club’s Fans Forum but I do respect the fact that supporters have been waiting a long time for the “Big Announcement”and with our lease of the Black Gold having just over three years to run I understand the concerns expressed. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that the default position of a minority is to suggest that we have no plan and that all is doom and gloom-suffice to say that that is far from the truth. What we have been working on with interested stakeholders including of course actively involved in the process which of late BCP Council over the last few years is an has gathered renewed momentum. Chaplain’s Corner Welcome to today’s match and to our visitors from Beaconsfield, we hope you have a safe trip home. Sadly I’m not able to attend today’s game, but it’s for a good reason: St John’s will be in the midst of a ‘Real lives’ weekend, hosting a series of events for people of all ages, thinking about life and faith with Australian visitor Glen Scrivener. This evening’s event will see Glen many ways. There’s something wonderful interviewing Major General Tim Cross CBE, about the way Jesus changes lives for the then speaking himself about the Christian better. It’s inspiring to see in others and a message, drawing together some of the gratifying privilege to experience oneself strands of what Tim has said. It should be what it is to be caught up in the purposes of a great evening and you are warmly invited. God. I hope you find that yourself. It’s free and there’s no need to book, just come along. Refreshments are served from 7.15pm, for a start at 7.30, ending soon Rev David Price after 8.30 (there’s also an advert below). The Manager Tom Killick Manager Today we welcome Beaconsfield to the Black Gold. They have started the season strongly and are two places below us in the table. They recently beat Truro away which is no easy task. Looking at the league table we need to start picking up points at a good level if we are to make ground on the leading pack. I was away last week due to a family commitment have in the changing room. We will miss him but I just could not miss. I hate missing games but on wish him the best of luck at Dorchester and I this occasion felt it was something I had to do. We would like to thank him for all he has done for us. had a bad day with already being short of players He will be welcome back anytime . and then losing Tony Lee to illness on the coach journey to the game. I’ve watched the game back In terms of the playing side I am hoping we will and it wasn’t a terrible performance but their have a new face on board today on loan but I am first goal was a bad mistake on our part and then not going to give details here as at the time of Corby was in our view harshly sent off. That put preparing these notes it has not been finalised. I us in a really difficult position of having to chase a am always looking for players who might improve game with ten men away from home and although us and that process never stops. It’s the old story we had good spells just couldn’t quite pull it off. though that they have to be in a position where they will improve the group we have. Getting Salisbury was a much better game for us. We players of the right calibre at a financial level we were tenacious and energetic and in the first half can afford is difficult and sometimes you have to were the better side. We scored a good goal to go be patient and sometimes its important not too in front and were then very unlucky when we had overlook the players you already have. If you an effort cleared off the line, a massive penalty bring someone in on loan and as a result end appeal turned down and then a goal disallowed up losing one of your permanent players it can for off side. If we had gone two goals in front I cause problems when the loan player returns to would of expected us to go on and win the game. his parent club. Also you have to be sure any loan However, with only a one goal lead, Salisbury players are really going to buy into the team work fought back in the second half and a hard fought ethic and are fully motivated to not only progress draw was probably a fair result. Salisbury are a their own careers but help the club along the way. very good side so I think it was appositive result for us. Once again thank you so much to all you supporters who are travelling to our away On a sad note I have to announce that Thiago matches and making such a difference to us with Casa Silva has left us to join Dorchester. I am your vocal encouragement. Hopefully we will gutted to lose Thiago. He is a real warrior on the have a good number here today and we can give pitch and a top player. It was just so difficult for you the performance and result you all deserve him to get in the starting eleven ahead of Will and Whisk and he understandably became frustrated with his lack of game time. Our loss will definitely be Dorchester’s gain and I have no doubt he will Tom make a big impact there. Although Thiago was Tom Killick not with us too long he made a huge impression Manager on all the players and management here.
