WELCOME Welcome to the shortest season in MSU Riley Center history – made necessary because of the transition from longtime Executive Director Dennis Sankovich to yours truly. But even though there are only five shows, it is an absolutely all-star lineup, with everything from eclectic blues to a star-studded Beatles celebration to an engaging Celtic Christmas show to one of the top a cappella vocal groups in the country. And there is more to come in the spring, so keep watching our web and social media sites for details. The MSU Riley Center is a treasured gem of a performance venue committed to enriching the lives of Meridian and the southern bistate region. Please join us as often as you can. Cordially, TODD RUNDGREN CHRISTOPHER CROSS MICKY DOLENZ Dr. Dan Barnard, DMA Executive Director Sponsored By: MSU Riley Center
IT WAS 50 YEARS AGO TODAY A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES’ WHITE ALBUM FEAT. TODD RUNDGREN, CHRISTOPHER CROSS, MICKY DOLENZ, JASON SCHEFF, AND JOEY MOLLAND Five stalwarts of 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s rock are teaming for a salute to one of the most beloved (and fun) albums of all time: The Beatles, otherwise known as The White Album. That 1968 landmark spawned such classics as “Revolution,” “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Todd Rundgren (“Hello It's Me”), Christopher Cross (“Sailing”), Micky Dolenz of The Monkees (“I’m a Believer”), Jason Scheff of Chicago (“Will You Still Love Me?”), and Joey Molland of Badfinger (“Baby Blue”) will also sing some of their own hits. This one-of-a-kind tour will rekindle great old memories and create amazing new ones. JASON SCHEFF JOEY MOLLAND THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 For fans of: The Beatles, the five legendary performers, classic rock 7:30 P.M. | VIP $100, A $75, B $65
STRAIGHT NO CHASER THE OPEN BAR TOUR Ten guys form an a cappella singing group in college, go their separate ways after graduation, reunite seven years later at a record company’s request after a video from their college days goes viral, release seven albums, tour the world, and amass more than 100 million YouTube views. It sounds crazy, but that really happened with Straight No Chaser. Through all their success, the nine current members have retained their onstage playfulness, their gorgeous vocal harmonies, and their love for performing. For The Open Bar Tour, the band will designate a local restaurant (check Straight No Chaser’s Facebook page) where fans can meet before the show and will randomly select audience members to sit onstage. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26 7:30 P.M. | VIP $60, A $45, B $35
NORMAN FOOTE With his guitar, his songs, and his goofy props and puppets, Norman Foote charms adults and inspires kids to fits of giggles. For three decades, this Canadian singer, songwriter, and comedian has been entertaining audiences around the world. You may remember his offbeat videos for “The Man Who Ran Away with the Moon” and “Dinosaur and the Progress of Man” from his association with Walt Disney Records. Even better are his concerts, where his love of performing creates an instant rapport with all ages. Expect lots of audience participation; during the Talking Head segment, for example, a kid volunteer becomes a live ventriloquist’s dummy. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14 For fans of: The Wiggles, Kidz Bop Kids, Imagination Movers 7:30 P.M. | VIP $35, A $25, B $20, Family Pass $45
AN ACOUSTIC EVENING WITH JOHN HIATT John Hiatt brings to town exactly what his fans want: a new batch of wry, thoughtful, sharply observed, and deeply touching songs. Ever since Three Dog Night turned his “Sure As I’m Sittin’ Here” into a top 40 hit in 1974, Hiatt has built a reputation as one of the greatest songwriters around. Blues, rock, country, and other genres flavor his distinctive sound. The MSU Riley Center provides the perfect intimate setting for the songs from The Eclipse Sessions, Hiatt’s latest album of gruffly compassionate meditations on life, love, and how to keep going. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20 For fans of: John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt 7:30 P.M. | VIP $60, A $45, B $35
Multi-platinum international music sensation Celtic Woman celebrates the holiday season with its eighth annual “Symphony Tour.” These concerts offer an unparalleled live musical experience, with Celtic Woman performing timeless holiday songs accompanied by a full symphony orchestra. The show will feature music from the all-female ensemble’s much loved holiday releases, such as the platinum-selling A Christmas Celebration and Deck The Halls. Celtic Woman promises an enchanting and festive evening filled with lots of holiday favourites and a few Celtic twists here and there, all with the accompaniment of magnificent orchestras across the country. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15 For fans of: Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Riverdance 6:00 P.M. | VIP $100, A $75, B $65
