About Cub Scout Camp at Camp Decorah All programs have been planned with the fun & enjoyment of your Cub Scout in mind. These camps will offer a variety of ac- tivities , rank advancements, fun, and plenty of opportunity for you and your Scout to make memories together. All programs have been planned by our Cub Scout Camping team which is composed of camp staff, cub scout volunteers, and Gateway Area council staff. Best practices from other Cub Scout camps, program recommendations from Cub Scout parents, and feedback from very successful summer 2021 camps have informed these plans. The program is planned with the comfort of your family in mind using Camp Decorah resources such as mini cabins, the dining hall, swimming pool, and program areas. Cub Scouts who have the adventure of summer camp are Cub Scouts are more likely to continue their involvement in Cub Scouting; their parents are more likely to help support the Pack; and all involved are more likely to tell others about the adventure of Cub Scouting. Camp Decorah—Other Important Items to Know Adults Attending with Youth Cub Scout/Webelos Overnight Camps For the Cub Scout & Webelos Overnight programs—all Scouts need to attend with an adult as it is an overnight camp. If you are attending only as a parent/grandparent and child then it is permissible to attend as a pair. If there are multiple youth from a Den or Pack attending then two adults must be in attendance per BSA Youth Protection Guide- lines. If attending as a Den or Pack with both male and female youth, both male & female adults must attend. The exception is a child and parent attending together. Adults need to plan to stay in camp with their Scouts / children. Week Long Day Camp Youth can attend Week Long Day Camp individually if they would like. Each youth should be developmentally mature to be able to do so. Anyone who is attending that will be a 1st grader in the Fall, or who is younger, needs to attend with an adult. Other Circumstances There may be some Packs or Families were adults need to rotate in and out to provide leadership or where adults are attending but must leave during a portion of the camp. Any of this is permissible but should be pre-arranged with an email to the camp leadership team prior to attending camp. 11
