About Cub Scout Camp at Camp Decorah
All programs have been planned with the fun & enjoyment of your Cub Scout in mind. These camps will offer a variety of ac-
tivities , rank advancements, fun, and plenty of opportunity for you and your Scout to make memories together. All programs
have been planned by our Cub Scout Camping team which is composed of camp staff, cub scout volunteers, and Gateway Area
council staff. Best practices from other Cub Scout camps, program
recommendations from Cub Scout parents, and feedback from very successful summer 2021 camps have informed these
plans.

The program is planned with the comfort of your family in mind using Camp Decorah resources such as mini cabins, the dining
hall, swimming pool, and program areas. Cub Scouts who have the adventure of summer camp are Cub Scouts are more likely
to continue their involvement in Cub Scouting; their parents are more likely to help support the Pack; and all involved are
more likely to tell others about the adventure of Cub Scouting. Learn more about the fun adventures planned for summer
2022 in this guide!

Weeklong Daycamp offers scouts and non-scouts the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities all day long! Unlike our other

Camp Decorah Amenities
                                         Camper Cabins
Camp Decorah provides a variety of amenities to help your Scout have a comfortable and fun experience.
For Cub Scout & Webelos Overnight Camps—all attendees will be lodged in a Camp Decorah Camper Cabin.
Packs will have all of their families in one campsite—there may be another Pack or two paired in here with you as well.

The mini cabins keep you up off the ground with a dry roof overhead. There is a cot but no mattress so you will want
to bring an air mattress or some heavy blankets to create some padding. Plan to bring a sleeping bag and pillow as
well.

Camp Decorah—Other Important Items to Know

                            Adults Attending with Youth
Cub Scout/Webelos Overnight Camps
For the Cub Scout & Webelos Overnight programs—all Scouts need to attend with an adult as it is an overnight camp.
If you are attending only as a parent/grandparent and child then it is permissible to attend as a pair.

If there are multiple youth from a Den or Pack attending then two adults must be in attendance per BSA Youth Protection Guide-
lines.

If attending as a Den or Pack with both male and female youth, both male & female adults must attend. The exception is a child
and parent attending together.

Adults need to plan to stay in camp with their Scouts / children.

Week Long Day Camp
Youth can attend Week Long Day Camp individually if they would like. Each youth should be developmentally mature to be
able to do so. Anyone who is attending that will be a 1st grader in the Fall, or who is younger, needs to attend with an adult.

Other Circumstances
There may be some Packs or Families were adults need to rotate in and out to provide leadership or where adults are attending
but must leave during a portion of the camp. Any of this is permissible but should be pre-arranged with an email to the camp
leadership team prior to attending camp.

                                                                11
Camp Decorah—Medical Policies
 Medical Policies:

 • Every participant must provide a copy of their BSA Annual Health and Medical Form (Form A & B). This form
will be kept on file for 3 years after they leave; this is to comply with Wisconsin State law for Summer Camps. After 3 years
they will be shredded. Participants should keep their original medical form at home for their records and bring a copy to
      camp.
 • State law requires all medication to be in the original labeled prescription container, medication can be dispensed by the
      parent or health officer.
 • Bee sting medication, inhalers, an insulin syringe, or other medications or devices used in the event of life-threatening
situations may be carried by a Scout but should be brought to medical checks. All individual medical / special / dietary
needs should be noted on the Health Exam Form. The Health Office at Dahl Center has a qualified Health Officer on call
      24 hours a day.

Minor injuries are handled by the Health Officer. If the medical incident requires further medical attention, the Scout will
be taken to the nearest hospital in La Crosse. An adult from the unit should accompany the Scout. The second leader and
a staff member will stay with the unit. Parents will be notified immediately. The Scout’s parents may be
responsible for all associated costs related to the incident.
