! PROGRAMS (NEW) Party Book A Party Book is a collection of parties, each hosted by a parent(s) or staff member(s). Members of our school community can then buy tickets to attend the party/parties of their choice! With Westmark families coming from all over the LA area, these parties offer an opportunity to have a great time with other members of our community – all while benefiting the WPA! More information to follow. Interested in hosting a party? See the Party Book Host Packet at the end of this packet. Holiday Gift Fund In response to multiple parent requests, we are eager to kick off our inaugural Holiday Gift Fund and offer parents a stress-free gift-giving option this December. We know that many parents choose the holiday season as a time to write personal notes of appreciation to teachers and staff. Whether or not you contribute to the holiday fund, we encourage you to continue to share these cards with teachers and staff. Nothing brightens their day more than knowing they are making a positive impact on your child. Look for detailed information this fall! WPO (Washed & Pre-Owned) Uniform Sales This year, the WPA will begin selling pre-owned Westmark uniforms at various events. If you have uniforms that you would like to donate, please bring them to the front office. Thank you! Updated 9.5.18 7

! COMMITTEES (NEW) Hot Lunch Committee This committee was formed at the end of the school year in response to parent feedback about last year’s lunch vendor. The committee will also be coordinating our new initiative: On-campus parent volunteers to help out during lunch. Be on the lookout for sign-up sheets! Parent Education Speaker Series Committee The intent of this new committee is to identify topics of interest to our parents and then locate and book dynamic speakers. (Details TBD) Community Service Committee The intent of this new committee is to provide resources and/or structured opportunities for Westmark families to give back to the community. (Details TBD) ! New Family Welcome Committee As a school with rolling admissions, we are continually welcoming new families to the Westmark community - and new parents to the WPA. The intent of this new committee is to help ease new families’ transition to a new school. Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC) In association with the school’s multiculturalism efforts, the IDC was developed during the 2017-18 school year with plans to host events, speakers, and celebrations. The IDC will also provide support, where needed, throughout the school year. ! Updated 9.5.18 10
! COMMITTEES (EXISTING) Westmark Wear / Lost & Found Westmark Wear is school-approved branded apparel, which is sold throughout the year at school functions (as well as online and through forms available in the front office). The committee assists in sales and the distribution/storage of incoming orders throughout the year. Items that are found around campus are brought to the Lost & Found cabinets (located across from the pool, adjacent to the front office). The Lost & Found committee helps sort through the items and helps return them to students. We grouped these two committees together since last year’s Lost & Found cabinets were overflowing with Westmark Wear items! $ Teacher & Staff Appreciation This year, we are excited to expand the scope of this committee beyond the one luncheon in the spring. Early stage plans include adding more mini-events during Teacher Appreciation Week, as well as the following efforts initiated last year: ! Breakfast for teachers/staff on the first day of school ! Breakfast teachers/staff on the first day back after winter break ! Snacks during parent/teacher conferences Plus potential other displays of appreciation throughout the year. Hospitality Committee Providing refreshments at meetings and other activities is just another way that we hope to make all parents feel welcome and valued as members of our Westmark community, Some say that the way to the heart is through the stomach. Others say that it’s nice to have something to eat when they realize they missed breakfast in their effort to rush their kids to school on time. Whatever the reason, the Hospitality committee is the group of parents who feed and hydrate the rest of us! Updated 9.5.18 11
! COMMITTEES (EXISTING) WPA Sunshine Committee The chair of this committee communicates life cycle events to the WPA Cabinet (who will then respond accordingly). In situations that warrant meal assistance, the committee will help with coordination, via MealTrain.com or similar efforts. GRADE LEVEL REPRESENTATIVES (GLRS) GLRs Communicate, Connect, and Participate GLRs COMMUNICATE BETWEEN THEIR GRADES & THE WPA GLRs share school-related information and notes from WPA meetings with their grade. If you are not able to attend the monthly general meetings, your GLRs can relate any feedback or ask any questions you might have, Please share your thoughts with them! If you would like to speak directly with someone from the WPA, your GLR can help you find the right person. GLRs CONNECT WITH THE PARENTS IN THEIR GRADE Your GLR(s) should be reaching out to all of the parents in the grade to introduce themselves. They are encouraged to set up off-campus parent and/or family get-togethers throughout the school year. (They probably also connect with parents in other grades. They’re friendly like that.) GLRs PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES At least one GLR from each grade is required to attend the WPA general monthly meetings. You will also see a number of GLRs at school events throughout the year. We hope to see you there, as well! ONLINE FORUM FOR PARENTS We are in the process of finalizing details for either one or both of the following: ! Class Chat for each grade on the Westmark School website ! A closed group for Westmark parents on Facebook Stay tuned for more information! Updated 9.5.18 12

! WHAT IS A PARTY BOOK? A Party Book is a collection of parties, each hosted by a Westmark parent or group of parents. The rest of the Westmark parent community can then buy tickets to attend the party/parties of their choice! It’s a great way to have fun with old and new friends, all while benefiting the WPA and our school. e What Kind of Parties? Parties can range from a kids’ scavenger hunt to an adult dinner party to a family movie screening It all depends on the host(s) of each party. e Have an Idea for a Party to Host? Fill out the Proposed Party Sponsor Form in this packet. Ready to Attend a Party? Stay tuned for more information on party listings!
! PARTY BOOK: HOST INFORMATION The host is responsible for making the event happen, including: ! Selecting a date (with a rain date if it is an outdoor activity) ! Organizing the activity ! Providing the venue ! Providing supplies/materials/provisions necessary for a successful event Expenses are donated by the host(s), and are eligible for a “gift in kind’ receipt. More information is available through the Development office. Host alone or with a friend – or another family Parents can opt to host alone or co-host with another friend/family. Sometimes, co-hosting can also be more cost-efficient - especially if there is a larger cost involved, e.g. renting a game truck, mobile spa, party bus, etc. Determine a price for guests to attend your party We can help you determine the price charged to attend your party. Some guidelines: a kids’ scavenger hunt & pizza party might be $30/child; an adult cocktail party might be $150/couple. How many people need to sign up? Your event has the green light once you have reached the number of attendees that you list as your minimum. If that number is not met, those who have already signed up will have their money refunded. Rescheduling Policy Parties cannot be cancelled; however, if an unforeseen emergency (illness, act of Mother Nature) necessitates a change of date, the host will do their best find a date that accommodates as many attendees as possible.
