Monday 19 February 2018 ALL STUDENTS WORKSHOPS, ACTIVITIES AND TOURS A range of workshops will run throughout the week to help you settle into studying, and learn about CDU’s support programs and services. Indigenous Knowledges and Learning Showcase 11.30AM – 1PM BLUE 2 – INDIGENOUS LEADERSHIP PRECINCT The Office of Indigenous Leadership invites all students to explore a range of interactive displays including arts, music, dance performances, workshops and tours showcasing the state-of-the-art technology and facilities available to CDU students. Students will also have the chance to learn more about the School of Indigenous Knowledges and Public Policy (SIKPP) and available indigenous knowledge elective units which contribute towards their degrees. Speed-Friending 12.30PM – 1PM, TUES – THURS RED 8 – BREEZEWAY Meet your fellow students and make new friends at our speed-friending sessions held in the Breezeway during O Week! Similar to speed-dating, it will give you a chance to meet lots of people, including the CDU Student Ambassadors, in a fun and fast way. You will be shown how to view and download content, interact with your lecturer and fellow students, undertake and upload assessment tasks and more. Attendance is strongly recommended. Learn what employers are looking for in you study a graduate and what you can do during your time at university to increase your employability. Microsoft: Helpful hints for Develop your skills using Microsoft to assist with assignments and manage your assessments academic resources. Learn how to format your documents into a neat, well presented assignment in a few easy steps before submitting them to the lecturers. Notetaking in lectures Successful students take notes in lectures. Optimise your lectures by discovering notetaking methods to help you master the content of your course. ACTIVITIES Exploring library search Students will be introduced to the primary search tool for the library called “Library Search”. Students will get hands-on experience using the search tool and will be guided on the most effective way to use it for their assignment preparation. Library 101 Kick start your university study by attending a Library 101 session. Discover what the library has to offer, check out our eBook titles, learn about our drop-in service, find your Liaison Librarian and relevant subject Libguides, and discover “Summon” and the CDU Library’s referencing guides. TOURS Campus tours Take a guided tour of the campus and facilities including the Chinese and Indonesian gardens, cafeteria, coffee shops and more. International House Darwin tour Explore CDU Casuarina’s only on-campus accommodation. Our nationally recognised events program aims to ensure that you get the most out of university life.
