Moonlight Cookers KER
Started in 2001, Moonlight Cookers is a Champion BBQ team comprised of Don Wright and Darrell Quiroz.
Over the years, the team competed in championships from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and
Colorado to Arizona winning many state and national championships and continues to be one of the top ranked
teams in the country. In 2005, the team had the privilege of donating its time and BBQ expertise to serve up its
delicious BBQ for the National BBQ Association and conference. Moonlight Cookers also participates in
catering venues both large and small with their affiliated company Texas BBQ Services. A group of champion-
ship cookers have come together for the Houston Live Stock Show & Rodeo BBQ Cook-Off to provide catered
competition quality BBQ fare, a one of a kind BBQ experience for many who have otherwise only experienced
restaurant grade BBQ.
In order to stay ahead of the competition, the team cooks on custom BBQ rigs designed and built by Don and
Darrell to exacting specifications. Innovation in Pit design and equipment, they believe is equally as important
as their innovations in the BBQ cooking process to keep them ahead of the pack. And so far, their innovative
ideas have led to success as they have out cooked many well known names such as those on the popular and
colorful Pit Masters program and beyond.
For the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Cook-Off , our extended team and volunteers will again
participate in the competition and entertain our donors and guests with food, entertainment and fun. We look
forward to yet another BBQ adventure and wonderful memories with our donors and guests as we strive for yet
another championship title. Please join us.
