PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION Horsham Agricultural Show 2021 STEWARD: Bart Turgoose JUDGE: Ross Barlow SPONSOR: Horsham Finance PRIZES First, second and third placegetters in each class will receive a place card. AWARDS (Trophies/prizes tba) JUNIOR • AGGREGATE PRIMARY STUDENT PHOTO • AGGREGATE SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT PHOTO • AGGREGATE SPECIAL NEEDS PHOTO SENIOR • AGGREGATE SPECIAL NEEDS PHOTO • AGGREGATE NOVICE PHOTO • AGGREGATE OPEN PHOTO • AGGREGATE ADVANCED PHOTO • BEST PHOTO OF SHOW RULES • All photographs must be submitted online via https://bit.ly/3BosOIM • • Please include name, age (for children) and class description (see below) including novice, open etc. • Any photos of children must include a caregivers name and contact number for permission to use in a public forum. Failure to comply will see the photo disqualified. • Exhibitors may enter a maximum of three prints in each section and the original image must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor using a camera, iPad or smart phone. • Photographs submitted must not have previously taken a prize at the Horsham Show. DEFINITION OF CLASSES Local Landscape/Waterscape: Must be in the municipality of Horsham Rural City. Land, Sea or Waterscape: A picture of natural scenery, which may include people, buildings or man-made structures, provided these do not dominate the picture. Human Portrait: To be of a person only. An Animal Portrait: An image that clearly shows the features of one animal; may be a pet, farm animal, zoo animal or native animal. Nightscape: Shops, street, house, shed, outdoor scene etc. at night. Astrophotography: Moon and stars Sports Action: Any sports in motion on the field, oval, road or court. Black & White ‘On the Farm’: Any contemporary photo of cropping, grazing, machinery or equipment. Black & White 'Rural Rustic': This includes farm equipment, farm landscape, old fencing or shedding etc. Macro Open Subject: Own choice of topic ie insect, grass, leaf, nature etc. 1:1 ratio. All photographs must be submitted online via www.bit.ly/3BosOIM COMPETITOR LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS A NOVICE: A beginner/amateur at photography and is and entrant who has not previously won an aggregate prize in the novice section at the Horsham Show. OPEN SECTION: Experience in photography, but not a professional photographer. Photographers who have won the Novice Aggregate Award at a previous Horsham Show can only enter in the Open Section or Advanced Photography classes. ADVANCED SECTION: Photographers who have won the Open Class Aggregate award in previous Horsham Shows or have had an acceptance in an APS National or PIAP International Photographic Competition can only enter in the Advanced Photographer classes. Any Photographers who have won the aggregate in the Advanced section may continue to enter the advanced section only. COMPETITION Theme – Animal/s In Action Winners of the junior and senior classes go to the Wimmera level for judging in November. The winner of the Wimmera group (W.A.S.A.) will go on the state level. V.A.S. Junior competition open to all student photographers (Primary and Secondary -17 and under) who reside within the Horsham Municipality V.A.S. Senior competition open to all adult photographers who reside within the Horsham Municipality V.A.S. Competition Rules and Regulations Unframed. Print no larger than 20cm by 30cm. Must be mounted on thick card (mount no larger than 3cm). Each exhibit entered must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor. Professionals are not eligible, which is defined as someone that works professionally or derives the greater percentage of their income in that craft, art form or technique. All work is to have been completed in the last twelve (12) months prior to its entry at the Horsham Show. The competition follows the three levels of competition: Show Level, Group Level and State Level. An exhibit having won at a Show will compete at the Group Final. The winning exhibit at the Group Final will then compete in the State Final at the 2022 Royal Melbourne Show. An exhibitor having won at Show Level is not eligible to enter the VAS Photography competition at any other Show until after the Group Final judging. An exhibitor is only eligible to represent one Group in the State Final. If for any reason a winner is unable to compete at Group or State Final Level, then the second placegetter is eligible to compete. An exhibit having won at State Final is no longer eligible to compete in the competition. If an exhibitor is found to have won more than one Group Final the exhibitor must forfeit/refund all prizes and will be disqualified from exhibiting for 12 months.
