WHAT'S INSIDE WELCOME WELCOME As President of Bowls SA, it gives me great pleasure to 2 present the State Bowling Calendar for the 2021/22 FORMATS 3 season. STATE EVENT MANAGERS 5 Whether it’s participating, officiating, hosting or visiting a club for the first time, I encourage everyone to get involved CLOSING & PLAYING DATES 6 in this year’s South Australian State Events. CONDITIONS OF PLAY 8 State events play a huge part in weaving together the fabric of South Australian bowls. From the social REPLACEMENT POLICY 13 participant, to the high performer aspiring for the world STATE EVENTS ENTRY POLICY 14 stage, visitors migrate from all over the state to enjoy the calendar of festivities. STATE FOURS 15 Bowls SA State Events are open to all players that are fully STATE PAIRS 17 registered members of affiliated bowling clubs. We welcome all, from first timers to seasoned veterans to STATE MIXED PAIRS 19 participate. STATE SINGLES 21 We may be a competitive lot, but South Australians love to socialise over bowls, so don’t be surprised if you make new STATE TRIPLES 23 friends at whatever event you attend this forthcoming STATE OVER 60'S PAIRS 25 season. UNDER 18 CHAMPIONSHIPS 27 There are many ingredients to conducting a successful event and I tip my hat to all the administrators, MGA MEN'S COUNTRY CARNIVAL 29 volunteers, clubs, officials and sponsors, all whom ensure a MGA WOMEN'S COUNTRY CARNIVAL 31 valued experience is had by all. Regardless of what happens over the season, I know CHAMPION OF CHAMPION SINGLES 33 spectators will be treated to wonderful displays of bowls, CHAMPION OF CHAMPION PAIRS 35 and the utmost sportsmanship shown by all competitors. STATE MULTI DISABILITY SINGLES 37 Finally, I wish everyone involved the best of luck in the 2021/22 State Events and may the best players and teams AUSTRALIAN INDOOR QUALIFYING 39 win. OVER 60'S STATE PAIRS CLOSING & ENTRIES CLOSE: 20 FEBRUARY 22 PLAYING DATES: 7 MARCH 22 - SECTIONALS 8 MARCH 22 - FINAL 8, SEMIS & FINAL CONDITIONS PLAYING MGA WOMEN'S COUNTRY CARNIVAL ENTRIES CLOSE: 27 FEBRUARY 22 OF PLAY PLAYING DATES: DATES 28 MARCH - 4 APRIL 22 The ‘Laws of the Sport of Bowls’ (Crystal Mark 3rd Edition Version 3.1 including Domestic Regulations for Australia) April 2019 shall apply to the conduct of all Bowls SA State Events 1. Eligibility - Registration CHAMPION OF CHAMPION A Member may only play in Bowls SA and Bowls Australia events and tournaments for the Member Club where the club SINGLES has paid the applicable affiliation to Bowls SA, except where the Laws of the Sport apply to substitutes. Bowls SA Constitution Clause 14. ENTRIES CLOSE: 17 APRIL 22 The Member is only eligible to play as a representative for their nominated Member Club. PLAYING DATES: 30 APRIL 22 - KNOCKOUTS 2. Eligibility - Champion of Champions 1 MAY 22 - FINAL 8, SEMIS & FINAL To be eligible to enter the Bowls SA Champion of Champion events, the entrant must be the Club Champion for the current season of the Member Club for which affiliation has been paid to Bowls SA. The Laws of the Sport of Bowls apply and the Champion of Champion events are considered to be a continuation of CHAMPION OF CHAMPION the Member Club’s Championship in which qualifying rounds were played. PAIRS For information regarding replacements in Champion of Champion events, please refer to the Bowls SA Replacement Policy (page 13). ENTRIES CLOSE: 24 APRIL 22 PLAYING DATES: 3. Country Region Qualifying Events 3.1 Country Regions must endeavour to hold qualifying rounds for designated Bowls SA State Events. 7 MAY 22 - KNOCKOUTS 3.2 If the Region receives less than the minimum number of four entries to conduct the event by the scheduled 8 MAY 22 - FINAL 8, SEMIS & FINAL closing date, the Regional State Event Manager will first communicate with Bowls SA, with the aim to increase entries to hold the event. If it is apparent that an event is unable to be held, the entrant(s) will be advised by the Regional State Event Manager and they will then be eligible to enter through the Metropolitan Draw, as AUSTRALIAN INDOOR stipulated by the Operations Manager, in conjunction with the State Event Committee. CHAMPS QUALIFYING 4. Entry Fees ENTRIES CLOSE: 8 MAY 22 Entry fees with the entry form must be forwarded to the State Event Manager or Bowls SA by the closing date.
