THANK YOU! Thank you for your patronage, and thanks for making the Martz Sightseeing & Special Events tour program the success that it is. We are grateful, too, for the feedback and the suggestions we have received from so many of you. Your input helps us to update and enhance our tour agenda according to your wishes. That’s why you’ll see many new 1-day and multi-day tours in this booklet. We’ve added Gulliver’s Gate in New York City, the Harrisburg Brewfest, Wine-Tasting and Waterfalls in Ithaca, Seaside Heights in New Jersey, and the Washington National Zoo to our day trips … and an expanded multi-day vacation roster now includes two Virginia delights (one is the Newport Jazz Festival), the Boston Pops for New Year’s Eve, New Hampshire’s Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, Maine, New York City’s ‘neighborhoods’, Cleveland’s Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame to celebrate Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary, Rhode Island, and Erie to see the Tall Ships! The Martz Group, founded in 1908, is a 5th generation, family-owned-and-operated transportation company with headquarters in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The mission of the Martz Group is to provide safe, reliable and courteous service at an affordable price, and Martz has stayed true to this mission, vision, and community for over a century. The services offered have continuously evolved for the last 111 years, providing services in 7 states: Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Florida. Now, if you think that ours is a success story, please give the credit to yourself and to the many generations of Northeast Pennsylvanians who made that success possible. We do! We shall never forget that we have traveled far because of the faithful customers who have traveled near and far with us over the years. We are on this wonderful ride together. We may do the driving, but we are driven by our dedication to you and your complete satisfaction. 1-877-611-8649
One-Day Sightseeing ADVENTURE AQUARIUM & CHILDREN’S GARDEN June 1 ($87) Camden’s Adventure Aquarium is a lair for the rare – like the blue oyster (only one in a million American lobsters flashes a hue that is blue) and the Great Hammerhead Shark (Adventure is the only U. S. aquarium to feature this marine monster). There are many special specimens among the 8500 aquatic and land species that reside in Camden’s 2 million gallons of water and realistic replications of natural habitats, and there are lots of interactive opportunities to see them up close in Penguin Park, Hippo Haven and other themed exhibits. This year’s tour adds the pure delight of the 4-acre Camden Children’s Garden, next to the Aquarium. The Garden offers horticultural experiences, creative play, and unique amusements for children of all ages. Includes Admission to the Aquarium, a family film in the Aquarium’s 3D Theater, and both the Arrow Train Ride and the Garden Carousel in Children’s Garden. AMERICAN GIRL PLACE May 11 ($103) What matters more to American Girl Place than the dolls that dwell there? The children who love and take care of them. That’s why everything there – the books, the interactive experiences, the studio where children can develop their own designs, the ‘hospital’ for doll repairs, and, of course, the dolls and all their accessories – is focused on the cultivation of a child’s character. The books create characters who serve as role models for meeting life’s challenges; the accessories (hair styles, skin colors, apparel and even life-situation requirements like hearing aids and crutches) help children to reflect and respect their individuality; and the dolls accentuate the kind of love that contributes to a healthy mind-set and the bonds of affection between mother and child. Bring your own doll, or adopt a new one at American Girl Place in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza. Includes Lunch at American Girl Café. Book Online! www.martztours.com 1
One-Day Sightseeing BALTIMORE INNER HARBOR & NATIONAL AQUARIUM May 11, July 20, Sept. 21 ($110) Baltimore Inner Harbor’s National Aquarium is like a high-rise for animals. Only, the ‘apartments’ are huge, glass-enclosed natural habitats for the flying, floating, crawling, slithering and swimming inhabitants – almost 20,000 ‘tenants’ and more than 660 species in all! Some, like the simian residents, are real ‘swingers’ – and others, like the giant tortoises, are often too shy to come out of their shell. Some – like the crocodiles, sharks, and piranha – are armed to the teeth (and, of course, with their teeth). Others, like the denizens of Dolphin Discovery, are engagingly gentle and cordial. Some, like the birds of Amazon River Valley, are ‘frequent flyers’ – and others, like the sloths of Tropical Rain Forest, just like to ‘hang around’. Visit them for the time of your life in 11 ecologically accurate themed environments. Includes Aquarium Admission and free time to explore the Inner Harbor. BALTIMORE INNER HARBOR ‘INDEPENDENT’ Aug. 31 ($70) The British tried to invade Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in 1812. If they had waited 207 years, there would have been so much more to see! But an invasion doesn’t have to be the occasion to sightsee in one of America’s most historic and ‘happening’ harbors. This independent excursion gives you the freedom to explore the Inner Harbor on your own. There are ships to board, a lighthouse to inspect, museums of history and art, and myriad shops and restaurants in Harborplace and in the Gallery. You can tour the National Aquarium, hug the skyline from the Observation Deck of Baltimore’s World Trade Center, ride a water taxi to Fort McHenry, or (believe it or not) suspend all belief at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. Includes Round Trip Transportation only. BLOOMSBURG FAIR NE W Date to be announced ($51) It’s back! Many of you asked ! us to put the Bloomsburg Fair on our travel schedule again in 2019, and we have. Check with us a little later in the year for the date, but rest assured that come September we’ll 2 1-877-611-8649
be ready to chauffeur you to this 164-year-old event. You’ll be pleased to know that the Fair is bigger and better than ever! Bloomsburg raises the ‘woof’ with dog shows, ‘horses around’ with equestrian competition, and ‘steps on the gas’ with car races and tractor pulls. You can apprise home-made pies, browse where antique plows and other old-fashioned farm equipment provide a machine mural of rural life in the old days, see the rafts of crafts in the Arts & Crafts Building, and show up when the show’s on and the stars show off with free entertainment on the bandshell. Thanks for the request! Includes Round Trip Transportation only. BROADWAY SHOWS The Martz ‘Stage’ Coaches are revved up for a new season of Broadway Matinee Excursions. These are the same vehicles that our patrons have come to admire for ultramodern comfort and safety, but when it comes to Broadway the goal is the glow from each row of show marquees in the Theatre District. Here’s what we have on tap for 2019 as this book goes to press: “King Kong” - Jan. 26 ($204), June 1 ($211} “Come from Away” – March 30 ($154) “Head over Heels” –March 30 ($154) “Tootsie” - May 25, 2019 ($185) “Cher” - June 1 ($155) “Phantom of the Opera” – tba for October 2019 “Wicked” – Oct. 26 ($158) We add more dates and new shows throughout the year. Visit us at www.martztours.com for Broadway updates BRONX ZOO July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 14 ($83) Tarzan would probably feel at home here in the 265-acre parkland that encompasses the Bronx Zoo, America’s biggest zoo. Granted, he and his family aren’t city slickers, but the Bronx Zoo is surrounded by woods and meadows, so much so that you could easily forget you’re in a borough of New York City! If Tarzan were actually there, you might find him and Jane in the African Plains or on Tiger Mountain. Perhaps you would bump into Boy in the Children’s Zoo … and Cheetah most likely would monkey around in Congo Gorilla Forest or in Baboon Reserve. There are birds, butterflies, elephants, red pandas, giraffes, big bears, lions, and themed areas galore – and you don’t have to swing on vines to see them. You can opt for, on your own, an overhead or terrain transport to your favorite wild habitats. Includes Zoo Admission. Book Online! www.martztours.com 3
One-Day Sightseeing CAPE MAY, NJ ‘INDEPENDENT’ May 18 ($81) You are the king or queen of your castle when you sculpt one in the sand of Victorian Cape May, New Jersey’s exquisite seashore. You’re the monarch of the excursion, too, because it’s an independent trip, and Your Majesty is free to enjoy it any way you wish. You can reign supreme with dream visits to lighthouses, bird sanctuaries (Cape May is famous for migratory gatherings) … cruises to where the whales spray and the dolphins play … a review of your bestial subjects at the Cape May Zoo … or, to crown your day, a shop-hop to the Washington Street Mall. You might even be ‘throne’ a spooky surprise if you devise a haunt-hunt at one of Cape May’s National Landmark Victorian Mansions. The Cape May Trolley is the royal carriage that can get you from place to place. Includes Round Trip Transportation only. CATSKILLS DOME TRAIN & TIOGA DOWNS CASINO June 8, Sept. 7 ($128) Rip Van Winkle would have a twinkle in his eye if he could see the ‘new wrinkle’ in the Van Winkle legacy. The Delaware & Ulster Railroad honored Washington Irving’s Catskills character by naming their domed streamliner after him. The Rip Van Winkle Flyer pays tribute to the Catskills codger and entertains his fiction followers with magnificent mountain meandering. You’ll see a sylvan paradise in full ‘trek-nicolor’ – vast vistas that fill the dome and the huge windows of the dining car as you revel in the awesome ups and downs of the Catskills’ forested folds. Lunch is included on the train – and so is a tremendous time at the new Tioga Downs Casino Resort. This deluxe destination in Nichols, NY is so ahead of its time in resort amenities that it’s a thrill just to be there. That goes for the gaming, too, with 950 slots, 32 table games – and some new ideas that would make even a gaming guru grin with delight. All aboard for an old-fashioned train ride and lots of new-fangled fun! 4 1-877-611-8649
CATSKILLS DOME TRAIN & OKTOBERFEST Oct. 12 ($142) May we give you a lift? Hunter Mountain’s lofty lift takes you to the hefty height of 3200 feet and the soaring summit of the Catskills’ second-highest peak. It’s called the Skylift – and with good reason, because it takes you to a heavenly site from which you can see the Berkshires of Massachusetts and the Green Mountains of Vermont on a clear day! We head for Hunter when the resort is home to what USA Today recently hailed as one of the “10 Best Oktoberfests in the Nation.” There’s ‘oom- pah’ entertainment all over the place, and lots of Bavarian ‘vittles’ that you’re free to devour on your own. The meal that’s included is your luscious Lunch on the Catskills Dome Train that wends its way through the Northern Catskills to Hunter Mountain. This domed streamliner is called the Rip Van Winkle Flyer – and that’s an especially- apt appellation this year, because Washington Irving introduced Van Winkle to American Literature exactly 200 years ago! Includes the train ride, lunch on the train, and the Skyride. CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR – RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL What’s new? Something that’s old! It’s the annual Christmas Spectacular in midtown Manhattan. Yes, it’s old, but in the sense of tradition (it premiered with the Rockettes in 1933). Yet, it’s always new in the way it’s presented and in how it celebrates the yuletide season at Radio City Music Hall Entertainment Center. The theme of the show is new every year, along with new precision dance routines featuring the fabulous Rockettes, new human and animatronic performers in astounding musical vignettes – and, especially this year, new state-of-the-art technology that immerses the audience even more than before in the spell-binding action that unfolds on the stage. Secular and sacred scenes and storylines amaze with magnificent choreography, stupendous sets, incredible costumes, and unbelievably realistic special effects. Early reservations are advised. Visit us online at www.martztours.com in July for dates. Book Online! www.martztours.com 5
One-Day Sightseeing CONEY ISLAND July 13, Aug. 3 ($60) Part of Coney Island is literally ‘on a roll’ – Nathan’s Hotdogs, still a Coney Island staple and icon, and still in the same location where the wiener became a winner back in 1916. There’s a lot of American tradition like that in this Brooklyn playground – Luna Park and its historic “Cyclone” roller coaster … Coney Island USA and its innovative exhibitions and performances celebrating P. T. Barnum, circus sideshows, vaudeville, and other luminaries and legends from bygone eras … and, of course, the 3 miles of sandy beach that made Coney Island the favorite resort of New York City’s wealthy for much of the 19th Century. There’s a lot more to experience here on your own, too: arcades, thrilling and chilling rides and attractions, the New York Aquarium, restaurants and food stands galore, and shops for everything from mainline merchandise to unique collectibles. Come along and embrace the traditions that still sing of an earlier America at Coney Island today. Includes Round Trip Transportation only. COOPERSTOWN BASEBALL HALL OF FAME July 10 ($86) If the fact-finding Mills Commission was right in 1907, Civil War General Abner Doubleday founded the game of baseball in 1839 in Cooperstown. Whether the Commission’s conclusion was correct or not, it was exactly 100 years later, in 1939, that the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame opened with its first class of inductees – among them Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Christy Mathewson. Now, exactly 180 years after General Doubleday ‘stepped up to the plate,’ you can explore and experience the entire history of baseball, including its legends and traditions, in a museum complex that features over 40,000 artifacts of the game and more than 250,000 photographs and images. Martz ‘covers all the bases’ with Admission to the Baseball Hall of Fame and (to make this trip a ‘doubleheader’) a Bat-Making Demonstration at the Cooperstown Bat Company. Lunch is on your own in Cooperstown. 6 1-877-611-8649
CORNING GLASS CENTER & ROCKWELL MUSEUM Sept. 14 ($117) From molten gobs and glowing globs comes an exquisite class of glittering glass. See how the ‘gaffers’ (master glassmakers) do it in Hot Glass Demonstrations at the Corning Glass Center’s Museum of Glass. You might even shape your own silicate masterpiece in the museum’s Studio. There are over 3500 years of glass masterpieces in Corning’s Glass Collection Galleries! Our focus on the Fine Arts turns to 19th Century American paintings, historic bronzes, and Native American artifacts at the Rockwell Museum, also in Corning and a distinguished Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. The emphasis here is on depictions of the Old West. Other works celebrate the entire sweep of our nation’s history, culture, and character – encompassing American classics from Frederick Remington to Andy Warhol. Includes Admission to both museums, a Hot Glass Gather Luncheon at the Glass Museum, and time for shopping in the appropriately named Gaffer District of Corning. DICKENS OF A CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL – WELLSBORO Dec. 7 ($120) We feel that Charles Dickens would feel quite at home if he could spend a ‘cool Yule’ in this Victorian venue – the nostalgia-nook of Wellsboro. You’re likely to agree when you see all that makes this an invitingly vintage but vibrant Christmas Celebration: an early Victorian Marketplace with almost 200 vendors offering hand-crafted ornaments, unique gift items, and gastronomical goodies galore on Main Street…and performers in period costume singing, dancing and even acting under the town’s authentic gas streetlamps. Our Dickens ‘pickins’ include a Stage Presentation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and a scrumptious Dinner Buffet at the outstanding Penn Wells Restaurant in Wellsboro. Book Online! www.martztours.com 7
One-Day Sightseeing DORFLINGER GLASS & STOURBRIDGE TRAIN RIDE June 29 ($126) Christian Dorflinger was such a superb craftsman that his elegant glass and crystal creations were often in demand by White House staffs, dating back to the Lincoln Administration. These precious pieces were fine-cut, etched, engraved, gilded, and enameled in more than one location, but the largest Dorflinger Glass Factory was in White Mills, PA. That factory, with its beautiful bluestone exterior and its chestnut and cherry woodwork interior, was restored and transformed into a museum in 2016, with many of the original furnishings on the first floor and a spectacular collection of Dorflinger masterworks on the second floor. We’ll also visit a second building on the site, the Cutting Shop, to see a detailed scale model of all aspects of the glass-cutting and engraving process. Also includes a scenic Train Ride from Honesdale to Hawley, and back again, on the Stourbridge Line, famous for operating the first commercial locomotive rail service in the Western Hemisphere 190 years ago as part of the Gravity Railroad … and a Lunch Buffet at the Settlers Inn in Hawley. ELLIS ISLAND & LIBERTY ISLAND May 4, July 6, Aug. 17 ($81) It’s a moving story – the long history of Ellis Island as a portal for 12 million people moving from their home on another continent to their haven in America. That story got longer in 2015 when Ellis Island’s Main Building, the original processing center, was expanded to explain with dramatic displays and exciting interactive audio-visual exhibits the Immigrant Experience before Ellis Island was opened in 1892 and after it closed in 1954. The struggle of the nation’s new citizens to adjust, survive, and succeed in their adopted communities is told in dynamic detail. Perhaps you’ll want to look for an early family member’s photo or signature here, or learn how to add a reminder of a past relative’s entry adventure to the Museum’s American Flag of Faces or the American Immigrant Wall of Honor. Includes Ferry Transportation to both Ellis Island and Liberty Island (both comprise the same National Park), but not admission to the Statue of Liberty. 8 1-877-611-8649
FEAST OF SAN GENNARO Sept. 21 ($60) Lower Manhattan’s annual Feast of San Gennaro was a television star! New York’s longest-running religious festival was a significant storyline in episodes of “The Sopranos,” “Laverne and Shirley,” “The Golden Girls” and even the animated series “Family Guy”. Little did the early-20th Century Italian immigrants of New York City’s Mulberry Street environs know that their celebration would rise to such prominence when they held their first street festival in San Gennaro’s honor in 1926. Admission is free, Mulberry Street is closed to traffic, church charities still benefit from the proceeds – and the more-than-a-million people from around the world who partake of this great outpouring of faith and fun continue to enjoy free musical entertainment, carnival games, Italian food specialties, colorful parades, and religious processions. Includes Round Trip Transportation only. GETTYSBURG GHOSTS TOUR Oct. 26 ($125) The ghosts of Gettysburg have thousands of stories to tell: noble narratives of the cataclysmic clash that marked the turning point of the Civil War in 1863, terrible tales of innocent victims (like Jenny Wade, the only civilian casualty of the battle) and abused children (in the Haunted Orphanage, whose brutal headmistress from 1866 to 1877 still haunts the grim basement), and anxious accounts from Union and Confederate officers who used the Union Theological Seminary ( now the Seminary Ridge Museum) as a command center. Our Gettysburg Ghosts Experience includes a Walking Tour of the town’s phantom-infested 5-block Historic District, a second Ghost Tour that features the Jennie Wade House and the Haunted Orphanage, a Visit to the Seminary Ridge Museum (20,000 square feet of interactive exhibit galleries!), and a superb Dinner Buffet with sumptuous homemade meal options at General Pickett’s Buffet in Gettysburg. Book Online! www.martztours.com 9
One-Day Sightseeing GULLIVER’S GATE, NYC NE W June 15 ($85) Think shrink! And remember the song lyric ! “It’s a small world after all.” Thanks to Gulliver’s Gate, the whole world is reduced to 50,000 square feet and a city block in the heart of Times Square – the whole world and its most iconic landmarks and locations, like the Taj Mahal, China’s Great Wall, the Eiffel Tower, the Kremlin, Stonehenge, Niagara Falls, Big Ben, the Himalayas, and Manhattan itself! Granted, they’ve been sized down a bit to fit, but over 200 international master-craftsmen have succeeded in replicating reality in the largest and most interactive museum of miniatures ever and anywhere. Is it moving? You bet! Incredible technology brings life and motion to every structure and its environment – trains crisscross mountainsides, planes soar off runways, ships pass through the Panama Canal, cars traverse highways and famous bridges, gondoliers navigate Venice’s Grand Canal, and an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh is laid to rest along the Nile River. Believe it or not, Gulliver’s Gate can even make a miniature of you and make it part of the permanent exhibit! Includes Admission to Gulliver’s Gate and free time to enjoy New York City on your own. HARRISBURG BREWFEST NE July 20 ($110) Something very W ! special is brewing in Harrisburg’s Fort Hunter Park. It’s the 8th annual Brewfest, and the setting is exquisite –the estate of the 1786 Fort Hunter Mansion overlooking the Susquehanna River and the graceful Blue Mountains beyond. You’ll be free to choose your ‘brews and chews’ on your own from over 50 craft beers and many gourmet food options while listening to great music and you’ll go home with a keepsake festival glass. You might want to raise that glass in a toast to what opens the day – a visit to Hershey’s AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Museum. A Smithsonian Affiliate, the museum celebrates motor vehicle history with vintage cars, motorcycles and buses – even the world’s largest display of Tucker 1948 sedans (only 51 were made!). We’re somewhat partial to something else you’ll find here – the Museum of Bus Transportation – because it is home to the 1912 White Bus 10 1-877-611-8649
whose design and construction were supervised by Frank Martz, Sr., who founded the Frank Martz Coach Company in 1908. This first Martz Motorcoach (he used a touring car before that) is now the oldest antique bus in the country. Your jubilant journey includes all your admissions. HOLLYWOOD CASINO & TANGER OUTLETS April 6, Oct. 19 ($56) ‘A penny for your thoughts’ could be a penny for the slots if your thoughts turn to Hollywood Casino in Grantville, PA. It makes ‘cents’, because many of the almost-2400 reel, video slot, and video poker machines at Hollywood let you play for just a penny. Of course, there are higher stakes, too – and other gaming options: over 50 table games and 17 poker tables. You can count on Hollywood for a betting setting that’s play-perfect. After all, it’s owned and operated by Penn National Gaming, the nation’s third-largest gaming company. Some of what you spend at Hollywood might come from what you save at the Tanger Outlets in Hershey. With 44 outlet stores in 22 states and Canada, Tanger knows how to offer a huge selection of top-quality merchandise from distinguished designer outlets. Put Tanger’s Best Price Promise to the test: “an instant cash refund of the difference if you should find an item purchased at Tanger advertised for less.” Includes Hollywood Casino’s Rebate Package. INTREPID MUSEUM & FLEET WEEK May 25 ($87) The Memorial Day Weekend is a fabulous time to visit the Sea, Air and Space Museum aboard the now-docked aircraft carrier the USS Intrepid in New York Harbor. That’s because we board this marvelous museum on a key day of the nation’s week-long celebration of all the sea services, Fleet Week. You’re bound to witness some powerful and patriotic salutes to our ocean warriors! ‘On Deck’ for the museum is the out-of-this-world Space Shuttle Pavilion. The Pavilion features Enterprise (the first space shuttle) and current NASA International Space Station exhibits, the world’s fastest jets, and a British Airways Concorde that set the record for an Atlantic crossing. The Intrepid Museum is also home to the Growler (the only American guided missile submarine open to the public) and scores of historic video footage and interactive experiences. Includes Admission to the Museum but not necessarily all the special attractions that comprise it. Book Online! www.martztours.com 11
One-Day Sightseeing ITHACA WINE & NE WATERFALLS W ! May 18 ($158) Gorge yourself! That’s easy to do in Ithaca, because long-ago glaciers cut gorges galore in this ‘gorge-ous’ locale on the southern end of the Finger Lakes’ Cayuga Lake. There are over 150 waterfalls within 10 square miles, in state parks that are so beautifully forested that they look pristine and primeval. We’ll visit two of those waterfalls – Ithaca Falls (175 feet wide, with a 150-foot cascading fall to a plunge pool that’s renowned for trout and salmon fishing) … and Tughannock Falls (the tallest single-drop waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains and 3 stories taller than Niagara Falls!). Their spill helps to fill Cayuga Lake; so, it only seems proper to pamper you with a Narrated Cruise on the longest liquid locus of the Finger Lakes, and one of the deepest lakes in North America. Cayuga Lake has a Wine Trail, too – and we won’t ignore a sample-pour at the Americana Vineyards. Americana doesn’t ‘fudge’ on the sweets, either: in addition to sampling their wine, you might feel a nudge to try the fudge that’s one of their specialties. Everything’s included, plus a Picnic Lunch overlooking Tughannock Falls. KING OF PRUSSIA MALL July 27 ($49), Nov. 23 ($57) You ought to see what the King of Prussia Mall has done to make itself even more spiffy – and they did it in a jiffy, just since 2016. The retreat that this self-made millionaire built from 1903 to 1905 has all the trappings of a movie mystery: it looms like a Gothic mansion with a 4-story tower, tunnels, turrets, dungeons, and a St. Lawrence Seaway location whose name a screenwriter would adore – Dark Island. Our tour of Frederick Bourne’s “hunting lodge” takes you through 4 floors filled with furnishings and artifacts original to the castle and on estate grounds that feature 3 boathouses and even a 2-story icehouse. Also includes a Cruise on the American side of the 1000 Islands and Dinner at Cavallario’s Steak House in Alexandria Bay. Book Online! www.martztours.com 21
One-Day Sightseeing U. S. TENNIS OPEN (Date and Price To Be Announced) You tennis fans probably know that the big news for all the 2019 Grand Slam Tournaments is that the seedings (rosters and rankings for play line-ups) will be reduced from 32 to 16 – the format that was followed before 2001. If you’re new to the game, that means that more big-name pairings will occur earlier in the game. With players who ‘raise a racket’ in late-tournament play usually receiving most of the attention, having highly-ranked competitors face each other in earlier contests almost guarantees dramatic duels on the court regardless of when you’re there! The 139th edition of the U. S. Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year, is set for the net at the United States Tennis Association’s Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. Visit us online at www. martztours.com in April for the date and the price. NE WASHINGTON, DC NATIONAL ZOO W ! June 15 ($80) Some of Washington’s most prominent inhabitants have never walked the halls of Congress and would start a riot if they did! Yet, they have all the support, research resources, and globally-acclaimed conservation work of the Smithsonian to sustain them and ensure the survival of their species in freedom-fostering habitats that mimic the environments they came from. Our 1-Day visit to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo gives you plenty of time to explore the pinnacle in worldwide animal and ecological preservation programs – and the creatures that benefit from those programs, like Giant Pandas, African Lions, Asian Elephants, and Western Lowland Gorillas. Two thousand animals, representing more than 435 species, thrive here, in scientifically-designed themed exhibits, under the care of the Smithsonian. Your Admission is free. Includes Round Trip Transportation only. 22 1-877-611-8649
