NZ Midget Grand Prix Saturday February 13th 2021 at Stratford Speedway, Flint Rd, Stratford This event will be run according to the Speedway New Zealand Rule Book. All drivers MUST hold a current SNZ license and all vehicles MUST comply with the current Speedway New Zealand Rule Book and Supplementary Regulations. • Please pay attention to rules E2-3-1 to E2-3-5. Lap Scoring: Electronic lap scoring by means of the Dorian system will be used for the North Island Modified Championship. Competitors must have a charged/working transmitter mounted correctly on the car prior to vehicle checking. Race Radios: All competitors must have a working race radio and must submit it for testing at driver check in. Duplicate Numbers: No duplicate numbers will be allowed. It is a condition of entry that competing vehicles arrive at vehicle checking displaying the numbers allocated to them and that the numbers comply with the rules of Speedway New Zealand. Noise: The maximum noise limit of 95 dba will be enforced. Rainout: If the weather prevents the event being contested on the date scheduled, the Promoter reserves the right to hold the event on the next available day or weekend. The scheduled rain date is March 27th. Event Sponsor: Event sponsor decals may be required to be affixed to each competitor’s vehicle. Smoking: Smoking is not permitted in the pit area or on the dummy grid at any time. Additionally, Stratford Speedway is a smokefree venue. There are however, three designated smoking areas within the grounds. Alcohol: Alcohol is not permitted in the pits before, during or after racing. There are full bar facilities available in the clubrooms which will open once racing has finished Food and Refreshments: Food and refreshments will be available at the track. You are also welcome to bring your own food in. Driver & Crew Admission: There will be two free gate entries per tow vehicle Due to space restraints, only one tow or support vehicle is permitted in the pits per race car. Ie; two Midgets on one truck = truck plus one other vehicle. One Midget on trailer = tow car only
Ambulance Fee: All competitors are required to pay a $10 fee to contribute towards the cost of the Ambulance and medics. General Admission: Adult $20 Child $8 Family $45 (Two adults and up to four children 14 years or under) Under 5's Free Student/Pensioner $15 - Must present ID Entries: The closing date for entries for the New Zealand Midget Grand Prix is Wednesday 27th January 2021. Alternatively, you may post your entry form and a photo of your car to New Zealand Midget Grand Prix C/ Dean Gorrie 35 Airport Drive RD3 New Plymouth • If you have any queries please phone Dean on 021 293 0962 If you are posting your entry form, to ensure that these are received in time, please send through a week prior to the entry closing date. There will be a $50 NON REFUNDABLE late entry fee for entries entered after January 27th 2021. Also, in the event that you have forwarded an entry form and you discover that you cannot attend, you MUST notify the promotion of your inability to honour this contract. The promotion reserves the right to alter the format to an SNZ approved format and closing date after consultation with officials, if deemed necessary.
Event Format Scrutineering: Vehicle checking will be held at the track from 3pm until 4:45pm NOTE: E2-3-1 Any race vehicle in the designated pit area on the day/night of a race meeting is deemed to have entered the events on the meeting program. E2-3-2 Any race vehicle and/or its components may be selected for a technical inspection, on a random basis, or as advised at the drivers briefing, or as mandated herein. Drivers Briefing: Drivers Briefing will be held in the clubrooms at 5:00 pm sharp. Attendance at the drivers briefing is mandatory. Any driver not attending will be subject to exclusion from the event. Warm Up: The warm up will commence at 6:00pm. Racing Starts: 6:30pm NZ Grand Prix Format: M4-23 • Competitors will be seeded into three groups. • Group A will race Group B, Group B will race Group C, Group C will race Group A. These races will be of twelve lap duration. • Each group will take part in a marble draw for their first race. The draw will be reversed for the second race. • Each group will start on the inside row for one race and the outside row for the other. • Points will be awarded for finishing positions and the top sixteen points scorers will proceed to the final. • The remaining competitors will take part in a Semi-Main to find the last four qualifiers. Grid starting positions will be determined by points from the earlier races (highest at the front) • The final will be of twenty five lap duration. • The highest points scorer from the group races will have the choice of grid one or grid two. The rest of the grid will be in descending order. • The four cars joining the final from the Semi-Main will fill grid positions 17 through twenty in the order that they finished the race. • Grid ties will be decided by a coin toss.
