BACKGROUND: THE NUTRITION FINANCING COP SUPPORTING THE SUN SECRETARIAT • Activity 1: Conduct Quarterly Calls with Nutrition Financing Consultation Group: December 2018/March 2019/November 2019 (SUN GG)/April 2020. PATH hosted the CoP meeting on June 04, 2019 • Activity 2: Develop supplemental guidance on the SUN budget analysis, through consultations with technical experts, country stakeholders and members of the Nutrition Financing Consultation group • Activity 3: Develop guidance note and brief on approaches for costing/financing for nutrition • Activity 4: Update budget analysis guidance note for 2020 • Activity 5: Stock-taking brief of SUN budget analysis, Phase 1 and 2
Nutrition CoP in SUN 3.0 (See ToRs) • Our vision: a forum of experts to coordinate and harmonize guidance on nutrition financing (expand membership where possible) • Coordination mechanism for Technical Assistance provision and develop supplemental guidance on costing, resource mobilization, financial tracking • A key knowledge broker and advocacy actor • SUN Phase 3.0 strategy/roadmap on Nutrition Financing (2021-2025) • 2021 Nutrition for Growth (N4G)/FSS Commitments and country support towards the Summits • Ways of working : • Quarterly Calls with Nutrition Financing Consultation Group • Face to Face meetings during SUN Global Gatherings (TBD)
Presentation 1: SEEMS – Nutrition (UW and R4D) • University of Washington (UW) and Results for Development (R4D) ‘Strengthening Economic Evaluation of Multisector Strategies for Nutrition (SEEMS-Nutrition): Overview of Tools’. • SEEMS-Nutrition has developed a common approach for assessing the costs and benefits of multi-sectoral strategies to improve economic, nutrition and health well-being. This session will introduce users to the set of costing tools developed to enhance standardization of costs for use in economic evaluation. • See the overview of tools related to SEEMS-Nutrition
Presentation 2: How Outcome Funding can improve the impact of nutrition programmes? (Social Finance UK) • Toby Eccles, co-founder of Social Finance will briefly explain how outcomes funding for nutrition programmes can incentivize more effective, adaptive and scalable nutrition interventions. He will also outline a new and more streamlined option for financing outcomes contracts that removes the need for up-front risk capital. • For more info: Food for thought: The case for a global Nutrition Outcomes Fund
