Coaches/Referees: Coaches of both teams can referee or direct the game from the field, RULES – “COACHING FOR U5 – U6 RUGBY” Start: Centre of field with a free pass. To make a free pass the player starts with the ball in two hands. When the referee calls ‘Play’ the player passes backward to a member of their own team. Instead of line-outs, a free pass is awarded to the non-offending team, opposite where the ball went out of play. DEFENDERS: Must remain five meters back from a free pass. Defenders can’t move off that line until the ball leaves the hand of the player making the free pass. RIPPING: to complete a rip one of the two flags from the ball carriers belt must be removed.
