NEWS AND VIEWS SENIOR CENTER AND ADULT PROGRAMS SEPTEMBER 2021 The Malibu Senior Center office and computer lab are currently closed. Programs will continue to take place outdoors at Malibu Bluffs Park. All Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Guidelines will be followed. City of Malibu Community Services Department
OUTDOOR STRETCH & STRENGTH September 1 - 29 Mondays, 1 - 2pm Wednesdays and Fridays, 11am - 12pm Malibu Bluffs Park Register for the month or $5 drop-in, space permitted Pre-registration recommended Participants will focus on increasing flexibility, balance, circulation, and muscle tone while learning to relax through breathing techniques. OUTDOOR LATIN AND LINE DANCING Mondays, September 13 - 27 2:15 - 3pm Malibu Bluffs Park $15 for the month or $5 drop-in, space permitted Pre-registration recommended This fun and easy combination class will focus on line dances such as the electric slide and cupid shuffle. Steps in the classic mambo and cha-cha will also be included. No partner needed. This class will keep your mind sharp and your spirit lifted. Instructed by MC Callaghan. SENIOR WALK AT LEGACY PARK Friday, September 24 9 - 10:30am Legacy Park Free, RSVP Required Staff will guide participants through Legacy Park while discussing local plants and animals. The beginner walk is a distance of 1.5 miles with a slight incline and uneven terrain. Wear walking shoes, dress in layers, and bring water. AQUA AEROBICS Saturdays, September 18 - October 23 9 - 10am Malibu Community Pool $30 for the session or $5 drop-in, space permitted Pre-registration recommended Jump into aqua aerobics to build cardiovascular fitness and strength. Aqua aerobics is a blend of cardio and resistance training in a low-impact format. This program is suitable for all fitness levels from beginners to conditioned athletes.
