Archaeology Festival Saturday, September 10, 11am-3pm The Archaeology Festival is an event unique to our area, drawing over 1,000 attendees. Visitors have a chance to get their hands dirty as they participate in archaeological excavations near the 1704 Grist Mill. Newlin Grist Mill has the only ongoing, publicly accessible archaeological program in Delaware County. The festival provides visitors unique learning opportunities through hands-on participation and educational displays. Proceeds support all aspects of the archaeology program at Newlin Grist Mill, including the new 2021 archaeology lab and education building. Fall Harvest Festival Food Traditions, Past and Present Saturday, October 1, 10am-4pm, Food Vendors 11am-7pm The Fall Harvest Festival is a popular community event. In 2019, Over 1,400 visitors came out to celebrate. The event is free to the public, with the exception of a $5 per vehicle parking fee. 20-25 demonstrators provide visitors a glimpse into daily life in the early 18th century through skills and trades such as cider pressing, sand casting, brick making, and more. The recreated 18th century market features chocolatiers, bakers, soap makers, and more, demonstrating their crafts while selling their products. Proceeds from this event support restoration and preservation projects at Newlin Grist Mill. Historic Dinners: A Unique Dining Experience Tasting Through Time Saturday, May 14, 4:30pm and 7:30pm Explore history through your taste-buds! This five course dinner and accompanying drinks will feature culinary traditions through time. Proceeds support the restoration of the Newlin Log House. Tavern Night Saturday, November 5, 4:30pm and 7:30pm Tavern Night is a one-of-a-kind evening of 18th century food, drink, and music. Guests enjoy a selection of dishes and accompanying drinks representative of those found in a colonial tavern, which are meticulously researched and reproduced for this one night only. The Newlin Series Talks, walks, and more! The theme for this series changes each year and explores different aspects of Newlin Grist Mill's unique historical and environmental resources. For 2022, The Newlin Series will be offered in both virtual for and in-person events and cover a wide variety of topics related to some of the larger initiatives and projects at Newlin Grist Mill. Tales on Trails: Family Literacy in Nature Tales on Trails is a self-guided story walk for families with young children. Sixteen signs installed along the trail next to the Millrace and Frog Pond features a rotating selection of nature themed children’s books during the summer and fall.
