Chronic Pain and Opioids ECHO Opportunity Clinicians and their team members are cordially invited to participate in the Chronic Pain and Opioids ECHO program, funded by Oregon state legislative funds. ECHO is a tele-mentoring program that uses videoconferencing technology to combine brief expert presentations with interactive and practical case presentations from participants. The overall goal of ECHO programming is to build new capacity for care at the community level. This 16 session ECHO series is designed to help clinicians and their teams provide enhanced pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment for chronic pain in medical settings. Topics will include: The biopsychosocial approach to managing pain Understanding and assessing different types of pain Appropriate and ethical treatment plans for patients with opioid use disorder Evidence-based behavioral interventions for chronic pain Managing opioid tapers Identifying patients who may benefit from buprenorphine products Distinguishing between opioid dependence and opioid use disorder Benefits of participation include: No cost to you or your facility No cost to you continuing medical education (CME) credits* No cost to you maintenance of certification (MOC) part 2 credits for family medicine and internal medicine physicians* The opportunity to present your tough cases and receive feedback from a multidisciplinary team of specialists and your peers Share and learn with other clinicians, practices, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists on how to: o Assess substance use disorder in the context of pain o Have difficult conversations Sessions for this cohort will occur via videoconference on Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00 p.m., from January 12 through May 4, 2021. (There is no session on March 23, 2021.) We will select up to 40 clinicians and primary care staff who are in a position to champion change in their organizations. Clinicians (prescribing MD, DO, NP, PA), nurses, social workers, pharmacists, behavioral health specialists, practice managers, and quality improvement specialists are encouraged to register. Participants will be selected based on their interest, geographic distribution throughout Oregon, and ability to commit to the sessions. This course is part of the OHSU Addiction Medicine ECHO certificate program; participants who express interest in completing the certificate program will receive priority access. Effective Systems for Treating Addiction ECHO Opportunity Clinical teams are cordially invited to participate in the Effective Systems for Treating Addiction ECHO, funded Oregon state legislative funds. ECHO is a tele-mentoring program that uses videoconferencing technology to combine brief expert presentations with interactive and practical case presentations from participants. The overall goal of ECHO programming is to build new capacity for care at the community level. This 12 session ECHO series will help clinical teams build or improve systems of care that effectively treat addiction in clinical settings. Topics may include: Team-based approaches Administrative policies and protocols Standardized processes and workflows for patient office visits Processes to improve communication Best practices for the exchange of health information Trauma-informed systems of care Community referral pathways Benefits of participation include: No cost to you or your facility No cost to you continuing medical education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits* The opportunity to present your workflow and systems challenges, and receive feedback from a multidisciplinary team of specialists and your peers Sessions for this cohort will occur via a virtual meeting space on the second and fourth Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 p.m., from January 14 through June 24, 2021. We will select up to 10 clinical teams to participate who are in position to champion change in their organizations and provide care to patients. Teams might include: clinicians (prescribing MD, DO, NP, PA), nurses, social workers, pharmacists, nurse care managers, behavioral health specialists, administrators, and quality improvement specialists. Ideally staff will participate as part of a care team that includes a clinical champion and one or more other staff member. Participants will be selected based on their interest and geographic distribution throughout Oregon. This course is part of the OHSU Addiction Medicine ECHO certificate program; participants who express interest in completing the certificate program will receive priority access. Substance Use Disorders in Hospital Care ECHO Opportunity Clinicians and hospital staff are cordially invited to participate in the Substance Use Disorders (SUD) in Hospital Care ECHO. ECHO is a tele-mentoring program that uses videoconferencing technology to combine brief expert presentations with interactive and practical case presentations from participants. The overall goal of ECHO programming is to build new capacity for care in community settings. Throughout ECHO we will address issues of patient and provider experience, stigma towards people who use drugs, and other intersecting issues such as race and gender. This 12 session ECHO series will help build or improve care systems to effectively treat addiction in a hospital setting. Topics may include: • Understanding Substance Use Disorder (SUD): Brain disease of addiction • Medication for Opioid Use Disorders, including buprenorphine and methadone • Managing Alcohol & Methamphetamine Use Disorders in hospital care • Community SUD treatment settings • Acute pain management in a patient with SUD “I love these programs. Hospital clinicians (prescribing MD, DO, NP, PAs), nurses, social workers, pharmacists, discharge planners, behavioral health specialists, administrators, and quality improvement specialists are encouraged to register. • Ideally staff will participate as part of a hospital-based team that includes a clinician and one or more other staff member. • Participants will be selected based on their interest and geographic distribution throughout Oregon. Trauma Informed Care for Health and Allied Professionals ECHO Opportunity Primary care and allied professionals are cordially invited to participate in the Trauma Informed Care ECHO program, sponsored by Trauma Informed Oregon. ECHO is a tele-mentoring program that uses videoconferencing technology to combine brief didactic presentations with interactive and practical case presentations from participants. The overall goal of ECHO is to build new capacity for care in community settings. This 12 session ECHO series seeks to build the capacity of primary care and allied health professionals to understand and address the impact of psychic trauma sustained by patients and health care systems. This program is designed to support clinicians and their team members to better understand and respond to the impact of trauma by emphasizing physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors. Session topics will include: Introduction to Trauma Theory The Relationship between Legal Problems and Health Strategies for Organizations to Promote Trauma-Informed Approaches Screening Tools to Assess Trauma in the Primary Care Setting Addressing Institutional Racism Approaches to Protect Vulnerable Foster Children Interventions to Support Survivors of Violence and Trauma and Promote Healing Benefits of participation include: No cost to you or your facility No cost to you continuing medical education (CME) credits* The opportunity to present your tough cases and receive feedback from a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health and medical specialists and your peers Share and learn with other clinicians, practices, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists on how to: o Understand factors that impact trauma response and resilience o Identify tools and methods for trauma assessment o Increase awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion Open access to all references and resources Sessions for this cohort will occur via a virtual meeting space on Wednesdays from 12:00-1:15 p.m. beginning January 13 through March 31, 2021. This ECHO is designed for primary care clinicians (MD, DO, NP, PA) and their team members. Allied health professionals, including qualified mental health professionals, licensed social workers, nurses, care coordinators, practice managers, and quality improvement staff are all encouraged to register. Participants will be selected to participate based on their interest in the program, geographic distribution throughout the Oregon, and ability to commit to the sessions.
