NEW YEAR CELEBRATION SOUVENIR

NITTY GRITTY of NEW YEAR EVE CELEBRATION 2014……..
            Ar. B. Rajappa, Chairman New Year Committee and Team.
      It is indeed the greatest moment when the Management Committee
reposed confidence in me and my team for the conduct of the New Year Eve
Celebrations 2014. We resolved to provide a Holistic Entertainment Content
Spread to attract all ages and it shall be unique in the annals of Alumni Club
History. Every piece and items were jotted down meticulously and past years’
performances were taken as guidance for planning. Teams were formed with
dedicated members and Work Break Down Chart was prepared to execute
successfully to the fullest satisfaction of the stake holders, numbering over
thousand.
      Many Event Managers and Content providers were contacted and zeroed in
with Innovations Events & Entertainment Pvt Limited and content presentation by
CEO Mr. Sailesh Srinivasan was selected. Seating arrangement, Sponsors,
Advertisement, Registration, Staff posts, Illumination etc., were decided. We
preferred In- House Catering and Menu Spread was finalised. Ensured that all
items are available even past 1 am. Thanks to the extended car park the ‘Dining
without missing any bit of the program’ was possible.
      Well, from the start the variety, splendour, cinematic stage, performance of
dance troupe, scintilating music of Haricharan & co, Aadhavan’s stand up comedy,
Jugglers act, Flash Mob, Laser show, Disco Floor and DJ and the Pyro works
enthralled the audience and more were glued to their seat without having dinner
even well past 11 pm. Safety, Security, Exclusive Generator, Doctor at Call,
Statutory Permissions etc., were ensured.
      We thank all the Members, Spouses, Wards and Guests who participated
with ferver and enthusiasm. Our thanks are due to Members of the Management
Committee, all the Club Staff, Security, Police, Valet Drivers, Contractors and all
who contributed to the Excellent Execution of this Mega Entertainment Project.
      We, on behalf of Alumni Club – Anna University thank wholeheartedly our
Well Wishers, Sponsors and Advertisers for their benevolence.

ABOUT…. ALUMNI CLUB – ANNA UNIVERSITY
       The idea of forming an affordable social club to benefit the alumni of four
constituent colleges., namely College of Engineering, Guindy; A.C. College of
Technology; School of Architecture and Planning; and Madras Institute of
Technology, at the C.E.G. Boat Club premises, Boat Club Road was being discussed
from 1988 onwards. The concrete shape for the formation was given under the
Chairmanship of then Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Anandakrishnan at a meeting of
Alumni and Faculty members on August 6, 1992. A steering Committee was in
place with Prof. K. S. Hegde as convener, Er. T. M. Jawaharlal as Co- Convener and
Prof. Dr. S. V. Ramaswamy as Secretary to formulate the rules and regulations and
thereby to initiate steps to start the club. With 100 members Alumni Club – Anna
University was inaugurated on September 12, 1992 by Dr. M. Anandakrishnan. The
First General Body Meeting was convened on November 29, 1992 and by then the
membership has risen to 728.

       In 2005, an inclusive Sports Complex housing all indoor games, was added. A
modern Conference Hall facility to host Seminars, Symposia and Member functions
was built soon on the first floor. From the modest start many Management
Committes have added infra-structure facilities for Entertainment, Catering, Bar
and Sports. Modern Kitchen for Separate Vegetarian and Non- Vegetarian cooking
is available. With a mission to “Go Green”, 16 kWp On-Grid Solar Power Pack has
been installed. Thus the Club has grown in the shortest time being ranked as one
of the best city clubs. Presently around 1700 members are on rolls.

       Apart from socialising, as a mark of gratitude to our Alma-mater, our
members provide career guidance, counselling, lectures and employment to the
students of Anna University. Faculty members and students are encouraged to
avail the club facilities. Technical Sessions, Screening of DVD movies etc., to enrich
the knowledge base of our Members, Spouses, Wards and Guests are regularly
being held. Sports Day, Club Day and other Important occasions are celebrated
with huge fanfare. Indeed the New Year Eve celebration is the icing on the cake.
New Year Program provides an opportunity to showcase Products / Services /
Investments Plans to an elite participating crowd of more than 1000 people.

Many Senior Members, whose wards have settled abroad, have a huge
potential for Investments. The Younger Generation, in equal numbers, too is
desirous to access Judicious Investment Portfolios. Many organisations are having
long term Sponsorship arrangement with us. Enough avenues are available for
associating in our Club activities.
