NEVER GIVE UP As I’ve been reading the Bible recently I’ve been really challenged by God’s gift of free will. God loves me enough to let me take decisions that will have huge ramifications on my life and the lives of others. He daily presents me with the choice of whether to deny myself and follow Him or indulge myself and ignore His ways. That’s the evidence of God’s genuine and unconditional love for us. As a parent, who dearly loves his children, I know that feeling of pride when I see them make great choices and the pain when they ‘occasionally’ make bad ones. How often must we hurt our Heavenly Father by making wrong choices? I’m reminded in Deuteronomy of the choice God presented to His people: ‘Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.’ (Deuteronomy 30:19b-20). We have a daily choice to choose life, life that will not only affect us but our family and the generations to come. But choices must lead to action and we read three things we must do if we are to choose life: Love the LORD your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to him. They sound easy but they are a daily choice. I’m sure, if you’re like me, at the beginning of the year you started with great intentions of how you were going to make better choices. Perhaps choices linked to physical health like eating healthier or doing more exercise. You may have made choices about how you spend you time, less at work and more with friends and family. Or you may have promised God to be more faithful, to read the Bible and pray more. Sadly, often by February, good intentions have been forgotten and we feel fed up as we see ourselves return to the old habits and lifestyle. But as followers of Jesus, there is good news! We don’t have to wait for a New Year to make a resolution to change, God graciously gives us a daily choice, a brand new opportunity each day to choose life. To make great, positive and healthy decisions that will lead to the abundant and fruitful life Jesus made possible. Be encouraged! If you like many of us made plans to make better choices in 2020 but have already failed on several occasions, don’t give up. God’s mercies are new every morning, let every day be a new day, a day to choose life. Let’s hold fast to God, the Author of Life. Andy Boxall Senior Pastor 2

Introduction to Healthy Eating Thursday 13th February | 7:30pm to 9:30pm | The Life House Centre What should we eat to be healthy? This is an evening led by Joyce Sule, a nurse and pastor's wife, to explore how to eat healthily. This is a huge topic but vital if we are going to be good stewards of what God has provided for us. Please sign up online. Family Bring and Share Sunday 29th March | 1:00pm | Church Auditorium Our church family shares a diverse range of food, from around the world. Bring your favourite food, enough for you and some extra to share. We will provide drinks and cutlery so lets all come together as we share in a family meal. Refreshments from 8:30am. 9:00am to 1:00pm | Church Auditorium Keith Warrington will be leading a seminar called Word and Spirit on Saturday 29th February and he will be our speaker at a conference, on Sunday 1st March. This will be a conference Sunday, each service will have a different talk. Why not join us for all three services. Counselling at CLC Counselling is a carefully arranged opportunity for individuals or couples to talk through issues that are affecting their lives with someone specially trained to help. The process of talking about how to work through an issue can help an individual to clarify things in their thinking, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness in a safe and confidential setting. We ask those attending counselling to make a contribution, which goes towards the Life House Project. This will be discussed at the first appointment. For more information, please speak to Pastor Sean or email: counselling@thelifehouse.net 4
Exploring Partnership Tuesday 25th February | 7:30pm-9:00pm | Church Auditorium At CLC, we refer to our members as partners. Christian Life Church is part of a large charity and it is important that we can identify those who have decided CLC is their home church and want to partner with all that God is doing at CLC. We are one body with many parts, each created by God with gifts for a purpose. We want you to know how to get involved and play your part. If you would like to know more about becoming a partner in CLC we would like you to attend our exploring partnership meeting. Please sign up online. Welcome Lounge Sunday 8th March | 1:00pm-2:00pm | Church City Room If you're new to CLC we would like to invite you to our Welcome Lounge. There will be a light lunch, an opportunity to meet some of the team and hear a little bit about the CLC family. If you would like more information speak to one of the welcome team. Please sign up online. Welcome Track Tuesday 10th, 17th and 24th March | 7:00pm-9:00pm | Church Gallery Room If you are considering making CLC your church family, we would highly recommend our Welcome Track course. This is our opportunity to take time over three weeks to share CLC's vision and values and a chance for you to 'get under the bonnet' proverbially; to see how we work and learn why we do what we do. You will hear our story and what we believe, and to discuss how you could get involved. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions. For more information speak to Pastor Andy. Please sign up online. 5

Engage more with CLC: ChurchSuite One way of engaging more with the life and activity of CLC is by using ChurchSuite. The church uses this management tool that has a range of features such as address book, children and youth, life groups, room bookings, ministry rotas, events calendar, giving and general admin. All of our events are on it with the latest details. Also every one of our life groups key information is included on it. ChurchSuite is integrated into our website too. ChurchSuite Connect When we gather we are starting to use ChurchSuite Connect at the reception and Connect Point. You’re able to connect with the church with your contact details and update them (including your email address). Browse a list all of our events / life groups and even sign up. Donate one-off and recurring online donations through the secure online giving system. My ChurchSuite Another great aspect is My ChurchSuite which is a member facing platform. This is a customised experience for you! You can access it through a web browser or download the App from Apple App Store or Andriod Play Store. You’re able to keep your details up to date and privacy / communication settings. Parents can manage their children’s information. You can see all upcoming events and life group information; and sign up to them. You’re able to give financially to the church including Gift Aid. You’re able to view your previous giving, when you gave and to which funds. Also you’re able to catch up on sermons. There are many more actions you can do… To log into My ChurchSuite, you need to be on the database with an email address. Currently 27% of our contacts are missing their email address. To check if you are on the database please contact the office. To be on the database please complete a Connect Card or go to the church Connect Point. Overall In 2019, around 40 CLC users used this platform which means we are underutilising the tool. We will send new invites to My ChurchSuite. Also one Sunday we will have a demo of My ChurchSuite. If you have any issues, please email Phil on phil.jones@weareclc.co.uk 15
