Race Specific Regulations The Event is governed by the UCI REGULATIONS, as well as the following provisions: 1. The Liberty Trans Cape is organised under a sanction granted by Cycling South Africa. 2. Any infringements of these rules and regulations may result in penalties, fines and/or disqualification. 3. The commissaires of the race have the authority to pull off riders who represent a danger to the field. 4. Any hanging on motor vehicles of any sort or pacing behind them will result in immediate expulsion from the remainder of the race. 5. Any dangerous behavior to other riders or spectators will be subject to penalty or expulsion. 6. Any profanities or inappropriate behavior will be subject to penalty or expulsion. 7. Race number Boards must be visible on the front of your bike at all times to be clearly visible to race officials. 8. Morning sign-on: Daily sign-on is compulsory for all categories. 9. A cut-off time is applied to all stages. Extension of cut-off times will be considered by the chief Commissaire and Safety Officer should circumstance in their view justify the extension. This is at their sole discretion. 10. Riders must carry sufficient technical equipment to deal with a puncture or other minor eventualities on the bike. TransCape 2018 Directory Page 4 of 34
11. Trash and water bottles MAY NOT be discarded along the racecourse. Riders in violation of this rule are subject to fines, time penalties and/or disqualification. 12. Public urination in or near start/finish venues will not be tolerated and violation of the rule will result in fines and or disqualification in addition to any criminal charges from local municipalities. Riders will be allowed to take natural breaks during road race stages only in rural areas free of spectators. 13. Should a rider abandon the race or not finish a stage within the allotted period his/her number must be returned to the race referee or the sweep vehicle 14. All routes applicable to all groups, The organizers will provide traffic control and medical support. Riders must be aware that these are open routes and be aware of all potential traffic hazards. On all the stages the riders must be aware of all traffic and must OBEY ALL RULES of the road. When a race incident occurs, the Tour Director and Chief Commissaire reserve the right to make any kind of neutralization should circumstances demand such action. WATERPOINT KM MARKERS ARE FROM THE START AND INCLUDE NEUTRAL ZONES Important to note that all Public and support Vehicles are to Park in the Parking allocated. No Vehicles except Officials and Crew will be allowed past the parking into the venue Route Markers There are route markets along the route. It is up to each cyclist to ensure they follow the route markers. There will be lead Motorbikes on most of the route except sections in reserves. Support Guides on Mountain Bikes and Sweep Vehicle. Support on Route It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure they have sufficient spares and tools on each stage. If a cyclist is involved in an accident or cannot continue, it is up to them to engage with the relevant emergency contact and send a location via their smart phone to activate medical support. If a cyclist is not injured but cannot continue they need to wait on route at the nearest vehicle access point, marshal point or water point for a sweep vehicle to arrive. Waterpoints There are waterpoints along the route to assist with hydration and feeding, and it is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure they fill up and remain sufficiently hydrated on each stage. Finish Areas • Chill Zone to relax before and after lunch • Volvo Transfers during allotted times for Premier Package competitors • Bike Wash Stations: please note that because of water restrictions we will assist with the minimum wipe down of bikes, but power washes and deep cleaning will not necessarily be available • Tech Support for those who have purchased the relevant package will be at the finish venues • Massage areas are available at the finish venues Toilets and Showers There are severe water restrictions in place at most of the venues and we request that competitors be aware of these and assist us to adhere to these restrictions • There will be toilets at all venues • There will be showers at each finish venue and we request that competitors not shower for longer than 2 minutes Laundry There will be a laundry facility on each stage. Please drop your daily laundry at the Race Office before the start in TransCape 2018 Directory Page 22 of 34

Volvo transfers for Premier Packages Part of the Premier package includes dedicated Volvo transfers for each Premier Package competitor to and from each venue. Please chat to the relevant person at the race office to sign on. Bag Drop and Collection Each competitor will receive a Helly Hansen Event Bag as part of their race pack. All clothing and race items must be transferred into this bag for the duration of the event. Competitors spare bags must be dropped off at the allocated bag drop at the start on day 1. These bags will be put in a trailer and can be collected at the finish on day 7.
