LGBTQ+ Health Challenges.
  Coming out     • This can have negative mental health impacts, particularly for youth who are not
                   in supportive environments.

   Rejection     • 40% of LGBT adults have experienced rejection from a family member or a close
                   friend. 86% of LGBTQ youth reported being harassed or assaulted at school

    Trauma       • Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, bullying and feeling identity-based shame
                   is often traumatic for people.

 Substance Use   • May be used as a coping mechanism or method of self-medication. LGB X 2 and
                   TGI X 4 compared to Hetrosexual or Cisgender Adults.

 Homelessness    • a 120% higher risk of experiencing homelessness. Especially POC.

    Suicide      • 40% of LGB adults and more than 45% of Trans have attempted suicide in their
                   lifetime, compared to less than 5% of the general U.S. population.

▶Transgender and gender non-conforming people

  often change their name to affirm their gender

        their insurance or identity documents;

▶It   is important to use names and pronouns that

COVID
According to the Trevor Project, some consequences to physical distancing for LGBTQ+ youth are:

▶ Decrease    in positive social interaction

    ▶ An    unintended consequence of physical distancing is potential loss of the social connections that

       protect LGBTQ+ youth from suicidality.

▶ Increase   in negative social interactions

    ▶ For   LGBTQ+ youth, physical distancing may have additional

    unintended negative consequences related to being confined

    to an environment that may be unsupportive or abusive
