Hello Neighbors! Please remember July is fast approaching and you want to get your Neighborhood Watch renewals in by July. This way your neighborhood can continue to be counted as one of the few that care enough to watch out for each other. If you think your neighborhood has a Neighborhood Watch, please make sure. Sometimes people believe they do, but there is no contact with our office. Once you determine that your neighborhood is not participating in Neighborhood Watch, ask your neighbors if anyone has any interest in starting one so your property and fami- ly can help reduce the opportunity for crime to flourish around you. The contacts are listed below: 1st Precinct: MPO Bradley Detrich .............. BDetrich@vbgov.com 2nd Precinct: MPO Jim McElligott ................ JMcEllig@vbgov.com 3rd Precinct: MPO David Nieves ................. DNieves@vbgov.com 4th Precinct: MPO Shelly Bryant ................. In 1970, the Au sm Society launched an ongoing na onwide effort to promote au sm awareness and assure that all affected by au sm are able to achieve the highest quality of life possible. In 1972, the Au sm Society launched the first annual Na onal Au s c Children’s week, which evolved into Na onal Au sm Awareness Month (NAAM). This April, we con nue our efforts to spread awareness, promote acceptance, and ignite change. The Au sm Society of America, the na on’s oldest leading grassroots au sm organiza on, is proud to celebrate Na onal Au sm Awareness Month (NAAM) in April 2020 with its new “Celebrate Differences” campaign. Designed to build a be er awareness of the signs, symptoms, and reali es of au sm, #CelebrateDifferences fo- cuses on providing informa on and resources for communi es to be more aware of au sm, promote acceptance, and be more inclusive in everyday life. The Au sm Society recognizes that the prevalence of au sm in the United States has risen from 1 in 125 children in 2010, to 1 in 59 children in 2020. Recognizing this con nued increase, the goal for NAAM is to further increase awareness about au sm signs, symptoms and opportuni es through: informa on and referrals, events, printable and digital resources, and community partnerships with businesses and organiza ons dedicated to building inclusive experiences. The Au sm Society of America has a variety of resources designed to inform and encourage communi es to celebrate differences, and become more inclusive of in- dividuals with au sm. The campaign will overlap with World Au sm Awareness Day on April 2nd, and con nue throughout the month. These resources will be made available on social media for sharing, as well as on www.au smawarenessmonth.org for download.
