CAMDEN COUNCIL CELEBRATES SENIORS 2021 FESTIVAL Camden Council invites local seniors across Camden to celebrate the 2021 Seniors Festival with music, entertainment, art, health, technical and wellbeing activities. Seniors are encouraged to enjoy new experiences, continue learning, impart their skills, and have fun with what’s on offer across Camden. With the theme ‘In our nature’, the festival promotes building inclusive communities and provides an opportunity for seniors to try new things, contribute, and remain active and engaged in their local communities. Council will offer free or low-cost events and activities during April to inspire seniors to connect, stay active, share skills, and keep doing the things they enjoy, together! As part of its on-going commitment to Seniors who are isolated, Council will be offering entertainment across selected aged care facilities. The following events and activities will be held across Camden. 2
VIRTUAL CONNECT DVD Council has proudly put together the Virtual Connect DVD, which features information and interactive wellbeing activities older residents can do at home, with family or friends or in a group setting. It includes fun activities and practical information sessions, such as gentle exercise, dance, and meditation; and lifelong learning initiatives, HELP NAVIGATING including health and information technology THE MY AGED CARE sessions. LONGEVITY SENIOR SERVICES 50+ CLUB The Pit Martial Arts Defence and Fitness Centre proudly offers seniors sessions and activities, where their mantra is ‘age is a requirement, a youthful outlook is essential and a positive approach to health and wellbeing is priority’. Of note are the seniors’ fitness and Tai Chi classes as well as group travels once a month, with a limit of 25 passengers per trip. Open every day, 9am-7pm. It offers a leisure group for older people with activities that include indoor sports, social games, regular bus trips, themed dinners, dancing, and art classes.
