The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago MINISTRY OF EDUCATION CARIBBEAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL (CXC) CSEC and CAPE Examinations JANUARY 2021 and MAY/JUNE 2021 REGISTRATION September 17th – October 9nd 2020 INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES (NATIONALS AND NON-NATIONALS) Please read these instructions carefully. Entry forms which are not completed in accordance with these instructions will NOT be processed. APPLICATIONS Applications must be completed ONLINE on the prescribed form which is available on the Ministry of Education’s website www.moe.gov.tt. Hard copy Forms will NOT be available at any of our offices. Note that only one (1) online application per sitting (January or May-June) will be accepted from each candidate. Any subsequent changes to the application must be sent by e-mail to cxcexamsupport@moe.gov.tt TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION YOU MUST:- • Complete the REGISTRATION FORM online. • If payment is required, the Deposit Vouchers will be available at any of the Payment Offices (District Revenue Offices). • Upload the following documents: o Electronic Birth Certificate (with affidavit, where applicable). o Valid Picture Identification (Identification Card, Driver’s Permit or Passport). o The official receipt for the fees paid (where applicable). o A recent (last six months) passport sized photo taken with a plain background. Incomplete applications will NOT be processed. SECTION A: GENERAL INFORMATION In making an application, the following instructions must be followed: a. For NEW Candidates, the name entered on the Registration Form must be the same indicated on the birth certificate. For other Candidates, the name entered on the Registration Form must be the same as that on past CSEC or CAPE certificates or preliminary results slip. b. Enter the number of a VALID form of picture identification, either your Identification Card, Driver’s Permit or Passport number in addition to your Birth Certificate Pin number.
c. Upon completion, candidates will receive an acknowledgement via email as proof of receipt of application to write the CSEC/ CAPE Examination. SECTION B: CENTRE LOCATIONS The Preferred Centre Location is your area of choice for writing the January or May/June 2021 examination. The areas are identified below: Arima Chaguanas/Couva Diego Martin El Dorado/ St. Augustine Point Fortin Port of Spain Princes Town Rio Claro San Fernando San Juan/Barataria Sangre Grande Siparia Tobago The Ministry reserves the right to allocate candidates to any centre for the examinations. Your official timetable will indicate your Examination Centre Number. Select one of the options associated with each subject. RESIT: Candidates who wish to reuse their SBA marks obtained in the JANUARY 2020 or MAY/JUNE 2020 examinations. An SBA may be re-used regardless of the score obtained. The candidate’s 2020 CSEC Registration number must be given. ALTERNATE: NEW Candidates or Candidates who do not wish to re-use an SBA. The Alternate (Paper 3) must be attempted. TRANSFER: Candidates who wish to transfer an SBA across subjects/ Units. SPANISH/FRENCH January Sitting Candidates registering for Spanish must note that the Orals will be held during the period 28th – 31st December 2020. If no notification is received by 20th December 2020, you must contact the Examinations Unit for the time and venue. May/June Sitting Candidates registering for Spanish/French must note that the Orals will be held during the period 13th – 28th April 2021. If no notification is received by 31st March 2020, you must contact the Examinations Unit (cxcexamsupport@moe.gov.tt) for the time and venue. SCIENCES Candidates registering for Biology, Chemistry and Physics who are not resit candidates must note that the 3/2 Paper (alternate paper) is a practical examination. Candidates are therefore required to be proficient in the use of laboratory equipment. A limited number of candidates will be accommodated at each Centre (first come first served). SECTION D: FEES NON-NATIONALS All non-nationals are required to pay the fees stipulated by CXC and ALL other local administrative fees. NATIONALS I. Nationals are entitled to two free opportunities to register as a private candidate at CSEC or CAPE examinations. Once the two free opportunities have been used, the candidate must pay the Candidate Fee, Subject Fees as well as all other associated fees. 5
II. Nationals who attend public schools at present and are registering for a subject(s) which they are registered to sit through the school in May-June 2021 ARE REQUIRED to pay the Candidate Fee, Subject Fees as well as all other associated fees. III. Nationals who attend public schools at present and are registering for a subject(s) which they are not registered to sit through the school in May-June 2021 are not required to pay any fees. This however, will be considered as one free opportunity utilised. Candidates eligible to pay fees MUST upload proof of payment of fees (picture of payment receipt from District Revenue Office). Failure to do so will result in the application not being processed. Any District Revenue Office in Trinidad; II. Victor E Bruce Building, Market Square, Scarborough, Tobago. Deposit Vouchers (available at the Payment Offices) must be used when the fees are being paid: FORM CA: Head: 07/01/ED1/013 - Examination Fees - Entry and Subject Fees FORM CB: Head: 07/01/ED1/004 - External Examinations - Local Fees for Candidates Withdrawals and Subject Changes: Applications for complete withdrawals, subject withdrawals, and subject changes should be submitted in writing or via e-mail to cxcexamsupport@moe.gov.tt and will be considered up to 9th October 2020 (January Sitting) and 30th October, 2020 (May/June Sitting). REFUNDS: Request for refunds WILL NOT be entertained after 9th October 2020 (January Sitting) and 30th October, 2020 (May/June Sitting). IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT ONLY THE SUBJECT FEES ARE REFUNDABLE. 6
SECTION E: TIMETABLES ISSUE OF TIMETABLE The official timetable giving the Centre Number and Candidate Number will be sent be e-mail to candidates. Candidates should check CXC’s student portal at “ors.cxc.org/studentportal” where a copy of their personal timetable can be obtained. You will be required to select 2021 January or 2021 MAY-JUNE CSEC/CAPE and enter a Birth Certificate PIN Number, Surname and Date of Birth. Candidates are also required to go on the Ministry’s website (www.moe.gov.tt) for their examination venue and any other related information. DATES OF THE EXAMINATIONS January Sitting Written examinations will begin on Monday 4th January 2021. May/June Sitting Written examinations will begin on 3rd May 2021. CANDIDATES ARE ASKED TO CHECK THE MINISTRY’S WEBSITE at www.moe.gov.tt FOR UPDATES, KEY DATES, PRE AND POST FOR JANUARY AND MAY-JUNE 2021 EXAMINATIONS. SECTION F: POSTAGE Candidates are required to provide three (3) self-addressed envelopes (25cm X 30 cm) or four self- addressed envelopes for candidates doing Spanish/French. Stamps ($2.00) must be affixed to each envelope except one. This last envelope will be used for the mailing of the certificate. A courier mail sticker ($25.00) must be purchased from a TTPOST outlet. These envelopes must be presented to the Examinations Supervisor at the candidate’s first sitting. SECTION G: DECLARATION The CXC database indicates any past attempts at the January and May/June Examinations. Any attempt at dishonesty or stated inconsistency will result in the application not being considered. There are penalties for impersonation. A candidate who allows himself/herself to be impersonated is disqualified completely from any examination for which he/she is entered and debarred from the Council’s examinations for two (2) years. Further, legal action may be taken against both candidate and impersonator in order to protect the integrity of CXC examinations. 7
