MGSG : risk assessment V5 Revised following new strain of Covid 19 Jan 2021 and National lockdown/ school closure term 3 2020/2021 This risk assessment must be read through completely and thoroughly. Please note that our risks and controls may change at any time based on changes to Government advice and local circumstances (possible cases of COVID-19), etc. This documents the risk control measures MGSG has have in place for Term 3 2021. These are based on current (as at 21 January 2021) government guidance: Guidance for Schools Actions for Schools Safe working in education settings Things considered to make the measures workable: Numbers of staff and pupils, number and availability of cleaners, numbers in forms and year groups Individual staff who may need separate risk assessments Any individual pupils with specific needs including reasonable adjustments Size and layout of school – specific issues include building work, maintaining a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils, remote learning, staff working in school, students in school Resources both already available in school and able to order/make Page | 1 Version 5 14 September 2020

If there are home testing kits available in school these will be given to parents/carers collecting symptomatic SLT In place since children, and to staff who’ve developed symptoms at summer 2020 school, if providing one will increase the likelihood of them being tested. Once at home, parents will need to arrange testing and, if this is positive, must follow the NHS guidance on self isolation and track and trace. The school must be informed of test outcomes so that government guidance can be followed. Only in exceptional circumstances will a member of staff Premises team take a symptomatic student home and a school minibus must be used so that social distancing can be maintained. The driver will also use PPE if required and the students over 11 will be asked to wear a face mask. A deep clean will take place in the areas that the SLT symptomatic person has been in, and PPE will be disposed of properly, following decontamination guidance. If the school becomes aware that a pupil or staff member has tested positive for coronavirus, the school will contact SLT the Kent South East health protection team on 0344 225 3861 (0944 9670085 out of hours) as required. The team will carry out a rapid risk assessment to confirm who’s been in close contact with the person, and these people will be asked to self-isolate. This must be regularly reviewed to ensure the operational needs of the school are met while strictly following the Covid 19 protocols when in school.
