The construction shall conform to the file photos and plans submitted in the COA application. The final construction shall be subject to review by staff in accordance with the Central Gardens Historic District Design Guidelines. The construction shall be completed and approved by Landmarks staff prior to Final Approval by the Office of Construction Code Enforcement (OCCE). Additional conditions attached: NO Plans and Photos attached: YES Any substitutions or deviations from the plans submitted and the ‘Description of Work’ shall require further review and approval by the Memphis Landmarks Commission or staff. Any changes or substitutions not approved are subject to removal. Prior to making any changes, you shall contact the staff at (901) 636-6619. This is not a building permit. No work shall begin without appropriate review and approval by the Memphis/Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement (OCCE), and validation of a Preservation Permit. This COA expires one (1) year from the date of issuance if a valid Preservation Permit has not been obtained. Belvedere Parcel #: 016039 00002 Quad: NE Memphis, TN 1997 UTM: Zone: 15S E0772854/ N3891710 HISTORIC BACKGROUND: Date of Construction: ca. 1919 Current Subdivision: BELVEDERE Historic Information: Constructed ca. 1919 this dwelling is part of the Belvedere Subdivision. ARCHITECTURAL SUMMARY: This is a two-and-a-half-story, frame, Italian Villa style house constructed ca. 1919. The dwelling has a continuous stone foundation, stone veneer siding, hip roof of tile and three stone, exterior end chimneys. On the main façade is a full-width, porch with a two-story hip roof, a patio extension, wrought iron railings, and a poured concrete floor. The main entrance is set within a two-story hip roof bay and is a six-light Craftsman glass and wood door with six-light, glass and wood panels or original glass and wood transom and six-light Craftsman, glass and wood sidelights and wrought iron security door. There is an arch and wrought iron clad single light transom over a wrought iron exterior door. Windows are original nine-over-nine light with wood sash and stone sills. In the hip roof main facade bay second floor are arched triple set nine- over-one double hung original windows with stone double original ten-light glass and wood doors. At the eaves are exposed roof rafters. On the main façade, (east) are two dormers with three section glass and wood original awning half moon windows. On the north and south façade is an original one-story lateral wing with hip roof of asphalt shingles, exterior tile and fifteen-light, glass and wood door with flanking ten-light glass and wood sides and two-over- three-over-two glass and wood original transom and exposed roof rafters. NATIONAL REGISTER ASSESSMENT: This dwelling is located in the Central Gardens National Register Historic District and would be considered a contributing building to the district.
