The Second International Conference organized by South Asia
Research Center, Soka University will focus on Memory and Past in
South Asia. Cultures of memory in literature, history and philosophy
reclaim a contrived past influenced by traditions developed in the
west. Literature evokes memory of a manufactured past through
images and symbols. History reconstructs the past through an
arrangement of facts narrated convincing. The paradigms created by
western and eastern philosophies seek to understand fundamental
truths about self, human relationships and the world we live in.
Modern philosophy finds the existence of actual events as
unverifiable except as an emotional shadow. The past is constantly
negotiated by the present. The dialectics of rationality and event
tells us that reason cannot give rise to an event. Remembering and
forgetting is also not the way to access the past. The 2021
conference will investigate how stories are told, identities imagined,
histories written and past reclaimed through language, orality and
archive in South Asia. Since the conference is held under the auspices
of Soka University, we would be happy to see a connection with
Japan and South Asia as well.

   The interdisciplinary conference is expected to bring literary
critics, historians, economists and philosophy experts.

     This
conference
will
be
held
in
English.
However,
we
will
welcome
                        presentations
in
Japanese.

abstract

reviewed
by
an
expert
panel
before
  acceptance.
Once
letters
of
acceptance
are
sent
to
you,
    please
begin
working
on
your
presentation
paper.

Asian

Japanese
literatures

Technologies.

The
unplanned
cities
of
the
present
and
urban
commuting
must
go.
  New
self-sustaining
smart
cities
of
50-100
acres
containing
water
 bodies,
forests,
technology,
education
and
companies
must
come.
 New
life
styles
of
the
yogic
past
must
be
reintroduced
in
our
times.
            We
must
live
better,
eat
better
and
sleep

Pure
Water
and
New
Energy
Techno
   logies.
South
Asia
is
blessed
with
lots
of
sunshine
and
therefore
developing
solar
energy
has
a
great
future.
Also
Asia
is
sustained
by
large
bodies
of
river
water.
Rivers
originating
in
the
Tibetan
Plateau
   like
the
Brahmaputra
irrigates
many
South
Asian
countries
and
 managing
these
river
bodies
with
China
will
be
an
important
issue
 in
the
coming
decades.
We
will
find
creative
solutions
to
deal
with
            environmental
issues
like
water,
air
and

South
Asia
has
been
rich
in
philosophies
of
peace
and
the
connection
of
           individual
consciousness
with
cosmic
consciousness.

South
Asia
and
Japan.

      The
emerging
Japan-India
partnership
will
strengthen
strategic
  relations
between
the
two
nations
and
renew
the
religious
borrowings
from
the
past.
The
Indian
Ministry
of
External
Affairs
recently
produced
a
           documentary
on
Indian
Deities
Worshipped
in
Japan.

Technology
and
Improvements
in
Life.

In
technology
we
will
go
further
to
improve
living
conditions
and
health.
        We
will
move
from
cloud
computing
and
robotics
to
artificial
            intelligence
requiring
structural
changes
in
society.

Asia.
   
In
Bay
of
Bengal
maritime
security,
we
will
find
new
ways
to
protect
  organism
and
resources
such
as
hydrocarbons,
minerals,
fisheries
and
                                other
energies.

in
South
Asia.

    The
section
will
connect
to
alternate
education,
medicines,
welfare
  economics
and
sustainable
technologies
to
maintain
the
health
of
our
                         planet
for
centuries
to
