The series of four webinars will take place between 23 November 2020 and 1 December 2020 as follows: Date, time and no. Sessions of CPE hours 23 November 2020, Topic 1: Roundtable discussion with Anand Raj, Partner, Shearn 0930-1100 Delamore & Co, on recent tax cases CPE: 1.5 hours This session will discuss and analyze the implications of selected recent court decisions on issues that are relevant to taxpayers. 25 November 2020, Topic 2: Strategic approaches to managing rapid changes in tax 0930-1100 controversy CPE: 1.5 hours This session will focus on recent trends in tax enforcement activities by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) in Malaysia. Some of the areas that will be covered are: • An overview of the tax enforcement environment in Malaysia • Insights into IRB’s approach to tax enforcement activities during these challenging times • Recent trends in tax enforcement activities involving corporate taxpayers • Practical approaches towards preparing and managing tax risks, tax audits and investigations, as well as remediation 27 November 2020, Topic 3: The future tax function - tax automation and technology 0930-1100 benchmarks CPE: 1.5 hours This session will explore how technology and automation systems can help tax functions transform and innovate in a new digital landscape.
Date, time and no. Sessions of CPE hours 1 December 2020, Topic 4: CRS | Embracing tax transparency – Are you ready for a tax 0930-1100 audit? (Individuals) CPE: 1.5 hours The Common Reporting Standard (CRS) was developed by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as a global model for the automatic exchange of information. The initiative calls on participating jurisdictions to obtain information from their financial institutions and automatically exchange that information with other participating jurisdictions on an annual basis. Some of the areas that will be discussed include: • An overview of how CRS works • Insights into IRB’s approach to tax enforcement activities using the CRS data received from tax authorities of other jurisdictions • Recent trends in enforcement activities involving individuals • Practical approaches to preparing yourself for a tax review by the IRB Who should attend? • Chief financial officers • Tax directors • Financial controllers • Tax executives • Finance managers • Accountants How to register? The webinar access link will be e-mailed to successfully registered participants one day before the webinar date.
