Membership Application Process Admission into the Libertas Classical Community co-op is a three-step process. The purpose of the application and interview process is simply to ensure that families align with our mission and that a solid partnership is fostered. Step 1 – Application: Applications are taken from May 1 – 30. Each family will fill out an application (pp. 4-5). Once your application is received, we will contact you to arrange an interview. Priority is given to returning families. Step 2 – Interview: In order to determine if the environment, expectations and curriculum is a good fit for both parties, we will interview all applicants. Once the interview is complete, we will notify you on your enrollment status and to discuss placement of your children. Step 3 – Registration: Once you are approved, you will need to enroll your children and indicate what programs you wish to participate in (pp. 6-7). Classes will be scheduled according to demand. You will also need to indicate your preferences for teaching and service to the community. At this time, you will pay $50 per student registration fees to secure your place in the community. Fees Registration: $50 per student, all grades k-12. Secures placement in co-op. Non- refundable. Dues: Primary Co-op Dues: $150 per student – grades K-6 Intermediate and Secondary Co-op Dues: $250 per student - grades 7-12 Dues are required no later than August 2, 2019. Dues pay for rent to church, classroom and other supplies including provided teachers’ guides, insurance, and other expenses related to running of the co-op. Dues are non-refundable once classes begin and are the same if you take one class or all classes. Your students’ books and study materials are purchased separately, although Libertas will purchase your co-op classroom teaching materials. Every student must own his or her copies of all written materials used in the community in compliance with all copyright laws. Refunds: Refunds will be given to families that withdrawal prior to the start of the schoolyear. Libertas and the teachers use the fees to purchase needed materials. For this reason, if you drop out once the year has begun, or change your mind, all fees are non-refundable. *Please keep in mind: Libertas is not a business; it is a non-profit homeschool co-operative. The nature of co-op is parents helping parents. We can keep costs down because everyone is expected to contribute. Libertas is not a drop-off program. If you have a unique situation, please discuss it with us, otherwise please be praying about where you can best serve the community and which talents you are prepared to share. Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Galatians 4:1-2 About Us Being a home-schooling mom is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world, but also one of the most challenging. We all need the support and encouragement of others, and that is why we’ve come together! Mission Statement: Libertas Classical Community: a Scholé Group will create a positive and restful learning atmosphere for homeschooling families that wish to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We are not a drop-off program, a school or a business, but rather a non-profit gathering of Christian parents and children, learning together, and sharing abilities and responsibilities. Faith Statements: Libertas Classical Community is a Christian Homeschool Co-Operative. All classes will be taught from a Biblical Worldview. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is held as the final authority on all issues pertaining to the believer’s life. We believe God exists eternally in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; all being one. We believe Jesus is God’s Son, born of a virgin, fully man and fully divine. We believe in Jesus’ sinless life, His atoning death through His shed blood, His resurrection from the dead, His ascension to heaven, and His future return. We believe that Salvation is the free gift of God, by grace, and through faith alone in the person of Jesus Christ who shed His blood on behalf of mankind as a payment for sin, and whosoever believes on Him is completely forgiven of the debt of sin, adopted as children of God, made co-heirs with Christ for all eternity, and will dwell with Him in a literal Heaven. We believe we are home schooling in obedience to God, and under the authority, approval, and support of our husbands. Group Organization: We are a non-profit 501(c)3 all-volunteer co-op that meets weekly around a classical model of home education. We are affiliated with Classical Academic Press Scholé groups, a leader in the modern classical education movement, but are locally organized and managed. We are headed by a leadership team, but each family still has final say over how they direct their home schools. The success of our community depends upon the collective ideas and involvement of all our families. Families are required to provide services to the community in exchange for membership—this is how we can operate tuition free. Please pray about how you may serve the group with your individual time and talents! Thank you applying with Libertas! We believe you are special because you have made the right choice to home school your child(ren)!
