Council Candidate: Daniel Franklin Daniel Franklin was born and raised in Campbell River and is a graduate of Timberline Secondary. Daniel’s motivation for running for city council is to help make Campbell River the best City possible for himself, his wife, and his two children. Daniel believes that the future prosperity of Campbell River, and it’s citizens, relies on economic growth and housing affordability. Housing affordability issues that Daniel would like to look into are property taxes, rules and regulations that might inhibit new building, and unconventional housing solutions such as tiny homes and container homes. Council Candidate: Claire Moglove Claire Moglove was born in Winnipeg and graduated Law School in 1979. Claire practiced law in Vancouver until 1992 when she moved and opened her practice in Campbell River. Claire served on Campbell River Council between 2008 and 2014. She also served on various Boards/Committees associated with her role as City Councillor. She was elected Chair of the Regional Hospital Board in 2012. Since retirement in 2014, Claire has served on a number of Boards including VIU, VIHA, Campbell River Community Foundation and the Willow Point Supportive Housing Society. Claire has been very active in the community having served as volunteer coordinator for the Relay for Life and Terry Fox Run. She is a past Board member of the Campbell River Museum and has served on the organizing committees for various local sporting events, including the Off-Road Triathlon, the Merville 15K run, and the Miracle Beach 5 and 10K run. Council Candidate: Marlene Wright Marlene has been a resident of Campbell River for 37 years, has a solid family, was a successful owner/manager of two local businesses and is an active community volunteer! Marlene says: I have a proven track record over the past three years on City Council in supporting the Municipal Broadband project, as a member of the 3.5-acre Waterfront Task Force, on the Comox Strathcona Hospital Regional District Board, as a committee member for the Strathcona Gardens and advocate for the artificial soccer turf project. To reach our community goals, I will support well planned economic growth, downtown improvement/safety, more quality senior care and increased accessibility to City recreation facilities.
