ABOUT THE TOUR Join the fall 2018 CIS Latin America tour for a fast-paced and highly productive journey across the region. Over 17 days leading up to the CIS Regional Institute in Bogota, Colombia, the tour will visit 9 different countries and 12 cities representing top regional hubs of student mobility throughout South and Central America. Latin America remains a strong market for international students despite different trends elsewhere. The tour will begin in the culinary jewel of the region, Lima, followed by a stop in Santiago. These Andean countries, Peru and Chile, have seen some of the most consistent economic growth in the region over the last decade. Following consistently productive and popular visits in Ecuador, the tour will then take a deep dive into most of Central America’s major recruitment markets with visits to six major capital cities (San Jose, Tegucigalpa, San Salvador, Panama City, Guatemala City, and Managua). MEET THE TOUR DIRECTORS TOUR DIRECTOR Carrie Lewis Associate Director of International Admission Drake University carrie.lewis@drake.edu For over 20 years, Carrie Lewis has served the students and campus community of Drake University in the Office of International Admission. Carrie has also served on various professional and regional service committees for CIS since 2006. Having previously led tours for CIS in Africa and the Middle East, Carrie has participated in the last 6 fall tours in Latin America and looks forward to the opportunity to direct this tour in the fall of 2018. ASSISTANT TOUR DIRECTOR Jorge Delgado Associate Director of Admissions Brandeis University delgado@brandeis.edu Jorge has worked in college admissions since 2010. In his current role he is responsible for all international recruitment initiatives and helping to manage the evaluation of undergraduate applications as well as the scholarship selection process. Originally from Lima, Peru he grew up in Southern California before his move to the east coast. To date he has worked in undergraduate student recruitment at three different private institutions. GENERAL CONDITIONS • CIS tours are available to CIS Higher Education member institutions only. • Participants must be full-time, permanent international admission officers of the member institution. • Preference is shown to participants with at least two years of full-time university admissions experience. Participants with less than two years of experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. • Participants must adhere to the CIS Code of Ethics and the Guiding Principles for Higher Education Members. • Participants must take part in the entire tour itinerary; deviations from the tour itinerary are not permitted. • An institution may not send more than one representative. • Additional travellers may not accompany the tour participant at any time on the tour. • Participants must be prepared to make general presentations on the university admissions process and be familiar with the admission and financial aid policies of their own institutions and the concerns of international students. • Any substitution in the person travelling must be reviewed and approved by CIS at least 45 days prior to the start of the tour. The new participant must submit a completed application and is required to meet all of the conditions for participation. Once approved, substitute travellers will pay a USD 1,000 change fee plus any additional tour expenses. • Due to space restrictions, floor displays at school visits are prohibited. Promotional giveaways are also not permitted. Participants must remain behind their tables when interacting with attendees. • The Council of International Schools (CIS) frequently photographs and/or videotapes and records its events and meetings. By attending this event you consent to being recorded and/or photographed, and authorize CIS to use any video, recording, and/ or photographs in any medium (web, digital, print, broadcast) throughout the world at CIS’s sole and exclusive discretion.
COST OF PARTICIPATION PRIORITY APPLICATION DEADLINE USD 15,377 15 MAY 2018 PAYMENT & REGISTRATION • 15 May 2018 - Tour application with USD 1,125 deposit (excl. VAT) is due to CIS. Participants must meet the conditions for participation and application deadlines in order to be considered. • 22 May 2018 - Balance of USD 14,252 is due to Wren & Fida. There is a late fee of 5% assessed after 22 May. • Tour price and itinerary are subject to change due to: revaluation of the US dollar, fuel surcharges, government taxes, airport departure taxes, reciprocity taxes, entry visa fees, changes in security situation, itinerary changes (before and during the tour) and all other items not in the control of Wren & Fida International and the Council of International Schools. CANCELLATION/PENALTIES CIS and Wren & Fida will only accept written cancellations. Fees will be assessed for cancellations in the following manner: • Cancellations prior to 15 May 2018: 100% of the tour balance is refundable, including the USD 1,125 tour deposit. • Cancellations between 16 May and 22 May: 100% of the tour balance is refundable, less the USD 1,125 tour deposit and any unrecoverable tour expenses. • Cancellations between 23 May and 29 May: 50% of the tour balance is refundable, less the USD 1,125 tour deposit and any unrecoverable tour expenses. No refund will be made if cancellation is received after 29 May.
