The 2018 FIFA World Cup is the 21st World Cup, with Russia hosting the final
tournament from June 14 to July 15, 2018. On December 2, 2010, Russia received
final approval as the host country of 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Swiss city of
Zurich. Russia already had a significant advantage in the second stage of the
voting, gaining more than 50 percent of the vote.
Russia is hosting the World Cup for the first time ever. Not only that, it is also
the first time the tournament is held in Eastern Europe. The World Cup is taking
place at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities.

The Volgograd Region is located in the southern part of Russia. Its capital is Hero
City Volgograd. Founded in 1589 as a frontier fortress under the name of Tsaritsyn
