ISAAC SPONSORED MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRIES ISAAC WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM? ■■ To support first-time ISAAC membership for individuals who promote and encourage the use of AAC and who live in developing countries (as currently defined by the World Bank). If you are sponsored, your membership is covered for two years. ■■ To encourage sharing between sponsors and sponsored members via correspondence and by “matching” their AAC interests, language, etc. ■■ The “matching” of sponsored members and their partners is arranged co-operatively by members of the BUILD Project Committee and the ISAAC International office. ■■ To encourage the sharing of AAC interests and knowledge in the sponsored member’s country with the ISAAC BUILD Project Committee. ■■ To provide sponsored members with an awareness of AAC and the work of ISAAC through ISAAC’s website, the ISAAC Membership Directory, and selected ISAAC publications. HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK? ■■ It is funded by donations from ISAAC members who are interested in the introduction, application, and research of AAC in emerging AAC countries, and by those who wish to support colleagues living and working there. ■■ This sponsorship contributes to full membership, including the ISAAC Membership Directory, but unfortunately does not cover the cost of other publications. WHO CAN APPLY? ■■ Any individual who would like to apply for ISAAC membership for the first time, who lives in any developing country, and who promotes and encourages the use of AAC. If you are sponsored, your membership is covered for two years. WHEN MUST ONE APPLY? ■■ Deadline for applications is the first of March of the current membership year, but late applications will be considered if funds are still available. HOW CAN ONE BECOME A SPONSOR? You can be a sponsor of a member or members in an emerging AAC country by making a payment of only $28 CDN per sponsored member! To make your donation simply complete and mail the pledge form on page 24. By being a sponsor you will be directly supporting the growth of AAC throughout the world. You can even identify whom you want to sponsor, if you have someone specific in mind. The person you are sponsoring will be requested to do a small AAC Awareness Campaign in their country, and you will receive details about this, so that you can see how your money is being used to spread the AAC message across the globe.
