From Fr. Davy’s Desk:

We continue our Easter joy during this fourth weekend of Easter. Today we celebrate
Mother’s Day honoring our Mothers. The Gospel passage this weekend from the Gospel
of John we read Jesus saying: “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow
me… The Father and I are one.” These words are very powerful! The analogy of the
obedient sheep reminds us how to listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow
Him faithfully. The unity in a family, or society, or in the world at large, depends upon
how the members work harmoniously respecting each other. Jesus acknowledged his in-
timate relationship with the Father saying; The Father and I are one. This unity is to be
reflected in our daily to establish the everlasting peace of the Risen Lord.

Mother’s Day reminds us of the roles of woman world wide. Mothers always put others
ahead of themselves. Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to stop and reflect on all of
her hard work. Mothers make sacrifices for the family without expecting anything in re-
turn. They are just happy to see us happy. Of course, Mother’s Day isn’t just a day for
celebrating our own mother. It’s a day for honoring all the women in our life who sup-
port and nurture us. Mother carried us for nine months and on her hip for a few years af-
ter. She carries us in her heart always. There’s nothing like a mother’s love to give us all
the strength we need to succeed. We remember Mother’s love, care, cooking, etc. We
can’t thank mother enough for giving us the love of our life!

Mother is a woman with her own responsibilities, tests, frustrations, anxieties, suffer-
ings, experiences etc. Mother Mary never had any exception. She went through the ex-
periences of any woman or mother. She was a successful woman, mother and role model
to all. Her success was in offering her will to the will of God. Therefore let us pray for
all women and mothers to follow the example of Mother Mary. They have played such
an important part in our life. Let us pray for them and
be thankful to our mother today and every way!

Happy Mother’s Day!

dades, sufrimientos, experiencias, etc.
