Nextdoor Nextdoor is the neighbourhood hub. Nextdoor is the best way to stay informed about what’s going on in your neighbourhood—whether it’s finding a last-minute babysitter, planning a local event, or sharing safety tips. There are so many ways our neighbours can help us, we just need an easier way to connect with them. Join Mahogany now! Nextdoor was created to bring neighbours together – this is important in good times and essential in times of need. Maybe you need groceries due to self-isolation or maybe you are not well enough to take your dog for a walk. Your neighbours can help through Nextdoors newly launched Help Map. Distance Portraits We stumbled on an awesome idea to help spread some joy in our neighbourhood. A Yellowknife Photographer - Pat Kane, inspired a prominent YYC Photographer, Erik McRitchie, that now has us feeling inspired by their distance portraits! Your MHOA reached out to some of our very own local photographers to create a series of Mahogany portraits to help spread some joy in these uncertain times. Want a free portrait!?! Simply fill out the online form here and book yourself and/or your family into a timeslot and also sign the release form that allows us and the photographers to share your image on social media and our website. The photo will be emailed to you by the photographer afterwards. While there is no cost for this we do encourage that you pay this small kindness forward in the days to come! We would love to send a local photographer to your home in the days to come to get a portrait! Line up on your porch, assemble in your front window, sit on your front steps… whatever works for you! We encourage you to put some creativity into your portrait and do what you can to help spread joy! Portraits will be posted on: Nextdoor Mahogany Mahogany HOA Facebook Profile Mahogany HOA Website Individual Photographers Social Media Accounts

Community Crime Statistics Mahogany Crime Statistics Update A Message from Community Resource Officer – District 8 – Zone 4, Cst. Anthony Thompson March 24, 2020 I hope that you are all doing well, staying healthy and adjusting to the drastic changes to your everyday routines as we deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. I simply wanted to reach out this morning to assure you that in these very uncertain times, the Calgary Police Service is here to help in any way we can. I am very certain that many people in our communities are extremely stressed given the circumstances and may need support and reassurance now more than ever. If you or any members of your communities are in need of any assistance, please reach out. Although we are continually developing new best practices, our front line members are continuing to serve the community just as they have in the past. With the need for social distancing many of the calls for service will be handled a little differently, utilizing phone calls and email as much as possible, but the calls for service will be answered and we will continue to do the best we can to serve the citizens of Calgary. I will continue to touch base with any messaging related to crime trends and update District 8 through our District 8 Facebook Group. I am monitoring the WhatsApp Crime Watch community groups that have been set up in District 8 as well. Both of these are firsts for the City of Calgary and just another tool for community and police to work together efficiently in these evolving times. Take care of yourselves and each other.
