Yoga at the Lodge~ Daily yoga classes will take place on the large open air deck overlooking the lush gardens and coffee plantation. The lodge has yoga mats, bolsters and straps all available for use. This trip is for absolutely everyone- yoga experience or not. We will offer a mix of physical yoga classes, meditation, breath work, around various yoga styles. You can count on lots of Vinyasa (Flow) style to get moving in the morning and some more restorative options in the evening such as Yoga Nidra and Yin Yoga. Whether you are looking to begin the practice and nail down some basics or deepen your practice and learn some new arm balances and inversions, we will make it work for all. DAILY SCHEDULE IN DETAIL DAY 1 ~ March 22 Arrival/ Private Tour of Los Gemelos & El Manzanilla Tortoise Reserve After arriving at the lodge for lunch, you will take a trip to Los Gemelos sink holes, and then continue on to El Manzanillo Tortoise Reserve where you will spend some time walking the trails with giant tortoises. Return to the lodge for a sunset yoga session and dinner as you get to know your fellow retreaters. Meals: Lunch, Dinner Activities: Walking, Wildlife Viewing
DAY 2 ~ March 23 Private Biking Tour to Garrapatero Beach, Kayak, Lunch, and Visit Trapiche Farm Wake early for a morning yoga session. After breakfast, we hop on our bikes and begin our 8km bike ride to El Garrapatero Beach. This is a great opportunity to observe the change in vegetation from the lush midlands to the arid low lands. Once we arrive at the beach, we will walk along a path that brings us to El Garrapatero beach. This is fantastic beach for swimming, relaxing and observing flora and fauna. After a short interpretation walk we get on our kayaks and go for a kayak around the bay. Enjoy some time to relax (or do some yoga) before walking back up the trailhead. Return to the lodge for lunch and a break. Afterwards visit a local farm that produces cana liquor and grows coffee! This is a short but fun visit, and you will get to sample some local canal Return to the hotel, and then drift into the evening with a sunset yoga session. DAY 3 March 24 ~ Shared Navigable Tour to Plazas Island In the morning after your yoga session and breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the canal to board your boat for your day tour to Plazas Island. Located a few hundred meters away from the Eastern coast of Santa Cruz Island, South Plazas and North Plazas islands were formed from uplifted seabed, giving it a tilted tabletop quality. First you will have the possibility of snorkeling in the calm waters of Punta Carrion where you will be able to observe a variety of tropical fish and possibly white tip reef sharks that peacefully rest on the sandy bottom. Then you will disembark on South Plazas where you will be greeted by a colony of sea lions. Further up the shore a carpet of scarlet sesuvium succulents serves as groundcover for a grove of luminescent green prickly pear cactus. Yellow-gray land iguanas sit beneath, waiting patiently for pears to drop. The trail takes you gradually towards the southern cliff of the island where you will be able to observe nesting swallow-tailed gulls and several sea birds such as tropic birds, Nazca and blue footed boobies fly by. DAY 4 March 25 ~ Shared Navigable Tour to Santa Fe Island In the morning after your yoga session and breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the dock to board your boat for your day tour to Santa Fe Island. Santa Fe is a smaller island of 24 km2. The visitor site Santa Fe is located on the northeast end of the island. Highlights include Santa Fe land iguanas, pelican nesting site, sea lion colony, mockingbird, and Palo Santo tr ees. The trail starts at the beach and leads you into a giant cactus forest while the Galapagos hawk overfly in the light blue sky. Crabs, nocturnal herons, marine iguanas, mockingbirds and Galapagos doves are often spotted in this unique island. The snorkeling activity will take place in a bay called Fisherman Bay in Santa Fe Island; here you may spot sea turtles, rays, sea lions, fishes, Galapagos sharks and many more in this rocky reef. DAY 5 ~ March 26 Private Morn ing Beach and Yoga at Tortuga Bay and VIP (Behind the Scenes) Visit To Charles Darwin Station This morning you will depart the hotel in time to arrive at the trailhead to Tortuga Bay at 9am. Enjoy a 30 min walk along a National Park path towards the stunning Tortuga ba y beach. Early in the morning one can appreciate the sounds of finches a nd mockingbirds along this path, as well as enjoy the landscape of a typical lowland forest of Opuntia cacti and Palo Santo trees. Share the sounds of waves and the company of marine iguanas. Afterwards there will be some time to swim or relax. Then transfer back to town by boat. Lunch will be in town at a local restaurant. After lunch visit the Cha rles Darwin Station on a special behind the scenes VIP visit. You will have the chance to have a more in-depth visit and hear more about current research studies that are being done. DAY 6 March 27 ~ Shared navigable tour to Bartolome Island This morning will be picked up from the hotel early (about 6am) and driven to the canal to board your boat for your day tour to Barto lo me Island (there will probably be no time for yoga this morning). Bartolome offers one of the most emblematic sceneries of the Galapagos Islands. A 600-meter pathway complete with stairs and a boardwalk will take you to the highest point of the island where you will be able to learn first-hand about the volcanic origins of the Galapago s Islands. After the walk a dingy ride along the coastline will give you the opportunity to see the Galapagos penguin. This curious bird nest amongst the fissured lava flows and ventures into the crystal clear waters of Bartolome to fish. After the land visit, you will return to the boat for a short ride to Sullivan Bay on the northeastern side of James Islands. The huge eruption that happened in this place in the late 1800s is clear evidence of the volcanic past of the islands. You will be able snorkel in the peaceful waters of Sullivan Bay. DAY 7 ~ March 28 Cooking class and free afternoon Enjoy a leisurely start this morning (much needed after yesterday's long day!). Mid-morning you will visit our enchanted forest walking along the trails listening to the typical birds of the area and appreciating the magic of the ancient trees to reach our garden and collect ingredients to prepare a delicious meal. Afterwards assemble in the kitchen and our chef will do a demonstration on how to prepare a typical local dish. Guests are welcome to participate in the cooking. Afterwards everyone will sit down and enjoy the lunch they have made. Enjoy the rest of the day off, this is chance for everyone to visit the town or do some souvenir shop p ing. (A transfer to and from town is included). The group will meet in town to have their last dinner on the enchanted islands in a beautiful restaurant with view to the sea. Return to the hotel after dinner.
