Competition Venue • Emirates Arena • Multi-use venue • Permanent indoor athletics track • Arena capacity 5,000 • Closer to the action • Accessible through local public transport – 15 minutes from city centre
Competition Venue Competition equipment is provided by Nordic Sport and timing and measurement by ATOS. • 6 lane, 200m Mondo track • 8 lane, 60m Mondo straight • Pole Vault runway • Long/Triple Jump runway • High Jump bed (for Combined Events, there will be two parallel beds) • Showcase athlete entrance for finals
Competition Schedule • 3 days: Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd March 2019 • 6 sessions – morning and evening each day • Max. 3 hour evening sessions • 2 Finals on Friday evening • Finals on Saturday evening and Sunday • Ceremonies to be held in the concourse area
Competition & Training • Orientation in the competition arena – Thurs 28th Feb 12:00 – 13:00 (tbc) • Followed by Technical Meeting at 13:00 (tbc) • TIC, Physio and Medical located in warm up hall • One Call Room – schedules to be displayed in the warm up area • In-venue warm up facilities include: • Warm up hall for jogging and stretching • 130m 6-lane Mondo straight • Weight training gym • Dedicated combined events rest area
• Main TIC will be located in the warm up hall at the Emirates Arena • Sports Information Desks will be located at each Team Hotel • The Team Manual will be available by 10th of January 2019
Victory Ceremonies • Victory ceremonies will be held in the concourse area • 26 medal ceremonies are scheduled • Ceremonies will follow EA Protocol guidelines and will include the raising of flags and playing of the national anthem • Athletes will receive a medal designed by an artist from the Glasgow School of Art
Training Venues Scotstoun Stadium • Athletics and Rugby Union Venue located in the West of Glasgow • Used as a competition venue during the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 European Championships • Community hub for athletics and home to Victoria Park, City of Glasgow Athletic Club • 15 minute drive from team hotels Training facilities: • 6 lane 110m track • High jump • Long jump • Indoor throwing cage • Weightlifting facilities
Tollcross International Swimming Centre • Swimming pool and leisure centre in the east of the city • Used as a competition venue during the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 European Championships • 15 minute drive from team hotels Training facilities: • Pole vault • High jump • Weightlifting facilities
Transport & Accommodation Official Port of Entry Glasgow Airport (GLA) • 12km west of the City Centre • 20 minute journey time to Team Hotels
Arrivals & Departures • Transfers provided by LOC from Glasgow Airport • Transfers from other airports can be arranged at a charge to the Member Federation • A generic vehicle pick-up point adjacent to the terminal has been arranged, this is approx. 100 metres from the Welcome Desk.
Arrivals • Vans available for transfer of equipment direct to training/competition venue • Vaulting Poles will be transported from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester Airport, up to two passengers can accompany each set of poles.
Departures • For the main departure day on 4th March an airport transfer service will be in operation from all hotels. This can be requested in advance. • Vaulting Poles – On Sunday 3rd March at close of competition all vaulting poles that are departing from Glasgow will be taken to a collection point in this airport so they can be collected by the Athlete on the following day
• Vaulting Poles travelling to other airports (Edinburgh or Manchester) will be returned to the athlete’s hotel after the close of competition on the 3rd March in order to travel with them on their departure day.
ARENA System All European Athletics Member Federations will be requested in due time to enter their team’s entries based on the following deadlines: Preliminary Entries: - Opening on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 - Closing on Thursday 08th November 2018 (14:00 CET) Final Entries: - Opening on Tuesday 5th February 2019 - Closing on Thursday 21st February 2019 (14:00 CET)
