IPSSglobal.org/ipssw2016 WELCOME TO GLASGOW! Dear IPSS Members, colleagues and friends, The International Pediatric Simulation Society (IPSS) and the IPSSW2016 Organizing Committee are pleased to announce the 8th International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops (IPSSW) in Glasgow, UK, from the 9-11 May 2016. Building on a great meeting in Vancouver in 2015, IPSSW is looking forward to its first journey to the United Kingdom in the vibrant and wonderful city of Glasgow. The conference will be held at the Hilton Hotel in the city center and within easy reach of all the wonderful dining and cultural activities that Glasgow has to offer. “IPSSW2016 –“innovation, engineering and exploration” bridges the gap between the technology and science and the human side to pediatric simulation. Firstly, Innovation in terms of the growth of new ideas and concepts and how they can be applied to simulation will be explored. Secondly, Engineering as applied to new technologies and resources for pediatric simulation will be discussed. Finally, the Explorative journey to marry the technology and innovation for our simulation community will be discussed. We aim to bring these themes together in an exciting and stimulating program. In response to feedback from previous meetings, we are pleased to have included speakers from a range of industries with important in-sights applicable to our practice. The format of the academic program has been refined to facilitate smooth flow between sessions with adequate time devoted to those aspects that you’ve identified as key and will include workshops and breakout sessions. IPSSW continues to represent the world’s largest gathering devoted exclusively to pediatric and perinatal simulation – popular for advancing its practice and network in a friendly and collegial atmosphere. A diverse group of individuals attend with a shared interest in improving pediatric healthcare through simulation. We are very excited to be inviting you to Scotland, to IPSSW2016 in Glasgow and we very much hope to see you there! IPSSglobal.org/ipssw2016 SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT Glasgow Skyline The Abstract Committee for IPSSW2016 invites the submission of original scholarly work in pediatric simulation research or education, technology development and evaluation. Completed projects, as well as work in progress will be considered. Abstracts previously presented at regional, national or international meetings will be considered. Simulation research using standardized patients/actors and virtual reality as well as mannequin simulators, task trainers and computer-based simulations are encouraged. All abstract submissions will undergo peer-review. The Abstract Committee will allocate accepted abstracts to one of four presentation formats, based on scientific merit and preference indicated by authors: (1) Oral presentation in themed sessions, (2) Poster sessions, (3) Themed roundtable/ panel discussions (4) Workshops. In some instances, abstracts submitted as oral presentations or roundtable/ panel discussions, and deemed to be of scientific merit, may be assigned as a poster presentation due to limited availability of time for oral presentations. Furthermore, abstracts submitted as workshops may be assigned as oral presentations, hence the abstract might need modification to fit within the format of the session.
