MAKING HEADWAY Brain Injury HB - February 2021 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2021 has arrived and after a short step up to Covid-19 Alert Level 2 we are back enjoying the freedoms of Alert Level one and this means we are able to hold a number of community events! Make sure to read on to check out what is coming up and how you can get involved. We have been incredibly fortunate to team up with Toyota HB and Stewart from Streetwise Coffee to secure a new vehicle for our Education Service!! Support from the Gwen Malden Trust and our community made this possible and will allow our Team to be out and about in the community providing education and support. We also need to say a BIG thank you to Speedy Signs for completing the signwriting on the vehicle and for their ongoing support of our organisation!! As always thank you to our members, community funders, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who has donated to support our organisation. If you would like to learn more about you can support our work please get in touch - dee.withers@braininjuryhb.co.nz
CHECKING IN ... VICKI I am so excited to be part of RYDA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness) this year! RYDA is a Youth Driver programme that is presented to high school students throughout New Zealand. The RYDA Programme is made of different sessions throughout a day, Seth Adams and I will be presenting the Crash Investigators sessions. These sessions get the students to investigate an accident in the hope they develop an understanding of how there are many different components involved. I will be taking the students through a presentation that explains how their actions can contribute to an accident happening, and to the severity. Seth will share with the students his personal experience, then students will use what they have learnt to ask Seth questions about his crash to try and understand how it happened. We have 5 High Schools booked so far for 2021 and expect many more to be confirmed soon. CHECK OUT THE BLOG! The team continue to keep the online world up to date with our work. You can check these out on the Website - www.braininjuryhb.org.nz and can be found under the "News" tab. New articles will be uploaded every month from the staff, volunteers and those with a story to share. If you would like to write for our blog we would love to have some new contributers - email Dee on dee.withers@braininjuryhb.co.nz to get involved.
