FURNITURE - TRENDS - DECOR AUGUST 2021 MAG’ FARIMOVEL PRESS! SIDEBOARD: AN ELEGANT PIECE OF FURNITURE LIVING ROOMS FENG SHUI FOR LIVING ROOMS! www.farimovel.pt FRAME COLLECTION!
FRAME COLLECTION The changing seasons always make us want to change some things in our homes. When the colder days approach, we long for fluffier and warmer blankets and duvets, for sofas full of cushions that welcome our afternoons of films and series, for soft rugs so that we don't feel the cold floor and, perhaps, for warmer colours that compensate for the absence of heat. On the other hand, when spring and summer begin to show their grace, we feel the need to create a light, bright, colourful and carefree atmosphere in our home. Changing the decoration or, better saying, adapting it to the seasons of the year doesn't have to mean a huge expense. Changing details is often enough to achieve that breath of fresh air. Let yourself be inspired by the proposals of Farimovel Furniture ambiences that Homify presented in its new online article "9 Summer Ambiences and Trends, for a Fresh, Fresh Home! You can check this article at www.homify.pt/revista.
The style of a space is defined by the colours, accessories or patterns used in it, but its purpose is defined by the furniture it accommodates. The sofa, the coffee table and the TV cabinet make up a living room. The bed and the bedside tables, a bedroom. In an office, we usually find a desk and a bookcase or shelves for books. No less important is the dining room which includes a table, chairs and often a sideboard. We are talking, obviously, in a generic way. Sideboards are, in fact, almost always used in the dining room, sometimes in the living room and, less often, in the kitchen. The main purpose of the piece is to provide additional storage space for crockery, glasses or towels, the surface serving as a table support during lunches and dinners. Furthermore, it is an elegant piece of furniture that comes in a variety of styles and can be decorated in a variety of ways.
FRAME COLLECTION The history of the sideboard is interesting, so we couldn't help but share it with you. The piece originated in the 14th century in Italy, where it was christened "credenza". The name originates from the tasting of drinks and food, by the servants, to know if they were poisoned before the lords - cardinals or Pope, for example - consumed them. The name "credenza" passed to the room where this ritual took place and, later, to the piece of furniture. In English, the word "credenza" remains, although the piece is also called a "sideboard". In Portuguese, we refer to it as sideboard: the one that trims. Why buy a sideboard? Here are a few reasons why: Functional storage area: storage spaces in a house can never be too much, especially when it comes to a large family. On a sideboard, you can store whatever you like according to the area of the house. In the dining room, you can use it to store glasses, glasses, cutlery, towels and all the other objects used in the room. Surface to display decorative objects: after arranging everything you need inside, think about using the surface to display some decorative objects such as lamps, candles, vases, picture frames, among others.
Surface to support during lunches and dinners: if you usually organise lunches and dinners in your house, you know how difficult it is to put everything on the table. To avoid confusion, the ideal is to have a sideboard where you can put the plates and bottles after people have served themselves, desserts and even a coffee machine with cups and sugar bowl. In this way, you can transfer one thing at a time to the table as needed. It is decorative: a dining room with just table and chairs will look rather bare. The sideboard will occupy one of the walls, completing the space. In addition to the functionality that we recognise the piece, its decorative character is undeniable.
FRAME COLLECTION TH E ESSE NTIALS OF TH E DOUBLE BEDROOM Unlike other spaces in the house, which are shared, bedroom decoration is a more personal and intimate affair. It's in the bedroom that we can fully express our personality and, perhaps, go a little further in the decoration, incorporating unexpected details. A couple's bedroom usually demands compromises and compromises to be made. It is, after all, a space where both parties have to feel welcome and comfortable. Let's start with an aspect which is often overlooked but whose importance is not insignificant: we are referring to the layout, that is, the way in which the bedroom furniture is distributed in the space. The layout is important because it has an impact on the functionality of the room. Poorly distributed furniture creates constraints on circulation, can affect spatial perception, hinder the passage of light and even compromise the way the furniture is used. The bed is the main piece of bedroom furniture and plays a determining role in our rest and health. Choosing it means thinking about size, comfort, the type of headboard, the possibility of having storage at the base or not and, of course, style. But the comfort of the bed does not exist if it does not have a good mattress. Textiles add beauty and cosiness to bedrooms and, when it comes to a good night's rest, comfort is everything. Opt for soft sheets made from breathable fabrics and buy a double duvet so you can adapt it to each season.
Complete double bedrooms must, necessarily, include good storage solutions. More than having a large wardrobe, a large chest of drawers or drawers at the foot of the bed, you need to know how to optimise this furniture by using accessories that make storage easier, such as dividers for drawers, baskets, boxes, among others, and by adapting the inside of the wardrobe to your needs. In addition to the wardrobe, it may be useful to have a chest of drawers or a shirt stand. The bedside table is a discreet piece of furniture, but it rarely fails to be present in any self-respecting bedroom! It would be really tragic if we had to get out of bed without a light support, if we had nowhere to put the glass of water, the daily book, the mobile phone, the alarm clock or any other element necessary for comfort during the period in which we are lying down. We can hardly do without a bedside table!
FRAME COLLECTION "Decorating a home with the principles of Feng Shui means in very simple terms working the ambiences to allow the free flow of healthy, positive life energy... " F E NG SH U I FOR LI VI NG ROOMS
FRAME COLLECTION FENG SHUI FOR LI VI NG ROOMS Feng Shui is an ancient philosophy originating in ancient China that aims to achieve perfect harmony, not only in the ambiences that surround us, but in our life as a whole. Being in harmony is one of the best ways to have a happy life and so every space in your home should emanate this quality. Decorating a home with the principles of Feng Shui means in very simple terms working the ambiences to allow the free flow of healthy, positive life energy, the "Chi". And this goal, which may seem simplistic, often comes with layout and decorating challenges that many are unaware of. In the living room, Feng shui helps a lot to achieve a relaxed and easy-going ambience. This is a privileged space for socializing with friends and family, or for many other moments of rest, which can only be obtained with good decoration.
FRAME COLLECTION I N SEARC H OF BALANCE For a correct Feng Shui we should use the position of the house in relation to the sun, but when it comes to colours, we have no universal rule. You should choose a colour that you like, that brings good thoughts, good memories and that brings you peace and balance. Blue, for example, is always a good option. Having a properly organised space, without scattered objects or accumulations of elements is fundamental for the harmony of the atmosphere! Feng shui style seeks to achieve a space full of tranquility and very relaxing, something impossible to achieve in a saturated space that causes visual fatigue. Choose your living room sofas and armchairs carefully. Comfort makes us feel good and encourages good energies, so choose soft sofas and chairs, where you feel like sitting for a long time. But don't neglect the aesthetic side, remember that for everything you need balance!
The television doesn't have to be the central focus of your living room, although that is the most common choice. Make the focus of your decoration a work of art, an exceptionally beautiful piece of furniture or the window that lets in a glimpse of a beautiful landscape. The lighting of the living room is a very important point for the atmosphere to be completely relaxing and harmonious, so that you, your family and your friends make the most of the potential of the space. In a living room with good Feng Shui, it is best to make the most of natural light, but do not neglect artificial lighting for when it is insufficient. Artificial light should be bright and strong, spread out in spots on the walls and ceiling to illuminate the whole room in a uniform manner, rather than grouped in a single ceiling lamp.
FRAME COLLECTION COFFEE TABLES TH E BALANC E BETWE E N AESTH ETICS AN D FU NCTIONALITY Choosing furniture for our home always requires great care. We should never rush into anything. It is important to analyse and consider whether it is really the piece we want for our home. As you know, pieces of furniture are not replaced every year, they stay with us for years, and sometimes for a lifetime. Therefore, betting on a good piece, with good finishes and materials, and a distinctive design will always be a good idea! Coffee tables in the living room are elements that bring functionality and versatility, being able to serve as support and help in storage. However, it is very common not to give them the importance they deserve.
One of the features to look for in the coffee table is that it should be suitable to support decorative objects but also those that are used in your daily life, such as the glass or the TV remote control. The coffee table should compose the space and not dictate how it will be. In this way, it should be in harmony of colour and style with the decoration of the space. When decorating this piece, a tip is to avoid very tall objects. You can take advantage of the piece and decorate it with books or candles, for example. The coffee table option we present you today is from the Frame Collection by Farimovel Furniture. A table in a futuristic style, with distinctive metal feet and plenty of storage, through its drawer but also the lifting shelf. Therefore, this coffee table is the perfect ally to have in your living room!
LIGHT COLOURS HOW TO APPLY I N DECORATION AN D WHAT AR E TH E ADVANTAGES ? A very low ceiling, a restricted space or a poorly defined living room... can detract from the aesthetic beauty of a room. Without carrying out too much heavy work, you can, however, correct the aesthetic defects of these spaces by changing their perception. The idea is simple: create an optical illusion! How? By playing with colour. To enlarge the space, but also to highlight niches, create perspectives, gain volume: paint is your new ally! Have no doubt that light colours have a great power in decoration. For example, in a small room, light colours help to enhance the lighting of the space, to visually enlarge and also to give a feeling of lightness and softness to the environment. 1. modern and minimalist style: If there is one palette where modern and minimalist style fits in, it is well in light colours, because they are perfect to make the space clean and bright. Alongside this, it is important to keep spaces light and with only the essentials, leaving them simple and functional. Do not hesitate to bet on light-coloured furniture, to reinforce the light side and you know, the lighter the better, because it allows the light to expand the space.
2. Create the illusion of a larger space: To give the feeling that the space is bigger, abuse light colours like pastel colours such as light blue, water green and other colours with light shades. This palette is perfect for transmitting comfort. The great advantage is that light tones never go out of fashion and combine easily with other colours in the decoration. To bring a balance to the ambience can be placed more vibrant colours in decorative details such as cushions, curtains, carpets and other elements. 3. Combining pale colours One of the great advantages of light colours is that they are easy to combine with other colours. For example, combining pale colours with dark blue is perfect for creating an elegant and refined atmosphere. You can also use pale colours in the living room with more vibrant colour accents such as yellow and pink, or invest in an office with pale colours and wooden details to create a cosy workspace. 4. Take advantage of lighting to highlight light colours Take advantage of all light, natural or artificial, to make the ambience brighter. The visual comfort that natural lighting provides has numerous advantages, besides having a very pleasant aesthetic. Sunlight makes the ambience comfortable, providing an immediate well-being. If the room you want to decorate doesn't have much natural light, then you should bet on several points of artificial light and choose light colours, to make the ambience lighter and, consequently, brighter. 5. Light floor To visually enlarge the room or to give a feeling of height in a room, you can opt for a light-coloured floor, as the light colour in the floor follows the whole extension of the space and helps to enhance the feeling of amplitude.
