I NTRODUCT ION The LLB degree of the University of London is of international standing. Most importantly, it allows the graduates to apply for the Hong Kong Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL)^, the English Legal Practice Course (LPC) or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) to eventually qualify as a barrister or solicitor. A high number of LLB graduates also pursue Preparatory Courses for their careers in corporate and commercial sectors and in the civil service. Successful admission into PCLL is at the sole discretion of the course providers. F EES AND FINANCI AL ASSISTANCE Course Fees The Preparatory Courses are offered on a self-financed basis. According to the PolyU SPEED’s policy, course fees paid are not refundable, except for cases of unsuccessful applications or course cancellation. Fees paid and places allocated on courses are not transferrable. Financial Assistance Local students pursuing the Preparatory Courses may apply for financial assistance under the Government’s Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) if necessary. The loan is non-means-tested and interest is charged at the Government’s no-gain-no-loss rate to be reviewed on a monthly basis. Detailed information about ENLS can be obtained from the website of the Government’s Student Finance Office at www.wfsfaa.gov.hk/sfo.
