BC Ministry of Education Graduation Requirements
To Graduate … Total number of grade 10, 11, and 12 credits needed to graduate: 80 credits (4 credits = 1 course)

Provincial Graduation Assessments • Focus is on the demonstration and application of Literacy & Numeracy • In order to graduate students will write: • Literacy Assessment – grade 10 – in April • Numeracy Assessment – grade 10 – in June • Literary Assessment – grade 12 – starting in 2022-2023 • Literary Assessment – for French Immersion students – starting in 2022 is in addition to the 3 above • Students who wish to rewrite (or write in grade 11 if missed it in grade 10) need to speak with their counsellor
Post-Graduation Considerations
Beginning with the Goal in Mind • The courses chosen in grade 11 & 12 will impact post secondary plans • Flexibility of options in course selection depends on Big Research University programs Colleges, Trade School or Teaching (Ex. UBC, SFU, McGill, U of T, etc.) Universities or Transfer programs (Ex. Cap U, BCIT, Corpus Christi, Douglas College, etc.) High school graduation (Ex. Work, Gap year, Travel, etc.)
Post-Secondary Institute Updates • Major changes have taken place in the last 2 years Please check individual Post-Secondary Institute websites for the most current information on Admissions Requirements • In general for Fall 2021: • UBC considers ALL grade 11 and 12 courses • SFU considers MINIMUM of 5 “academic” grade 12 courses plus ALL grade 11 courses
