Club, raising funds for RMHC New Zealand. The generosity of
the Dunedin community never ceases to amaze me - over the
10 year period the Dunedin Supper Club has raised almost

THE STEEDMAN FAMILY There is no doubt that the highlight of the pre-dinner function is when a local family shares their journey and how RMHC New Zealand has impacted on their lives This year Darrin and Julia Steedman, who will be joined by their children Brock, Liam, Brianna, and Enzo, will share the story about how their lives took a sharp turn in January 2020. Not only did they have to live through the national lockdown due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, their 6-year-old daughter Brianna had to undergo treatment for a tumour. Also at that time Julia was seven months pregnant and had placenta previa which made her a high-risk pregnancy. “When I first arrived, I was a bit nervous but when I walked through the door, the most amazing people were there to greet you. The hardest thing for us was to leave. It was an extremely emotional time. We will be forever grateful for everything the team at Ronald McDonald House has done to help us through these tough times in our journey”. House Dad, Darrin Steedman.

A beautiful painting kindly donated
by renowned New Zealand artist,
TOWARDS Geoff Williams.
HARBOUR CONE
Significant recognition was given to Geoff from
pre-eminent art critic John Daly-Peoples in the
National Business Review.[2] Peoples wrote
“Geoff Williams’ paintings of landscapes, still life
and nudes are filled with colour and light. The
surface of these works are alive with thousands
of tiny brush strokes that combine to make
objects which shimmer and dance. There is an
impressionistic quality to the work that recalls the
pointillism of Seurat and the feverish brush strokes
of van Gogh. Each work appears to have an
underlying life force, the small painterly gestures
animating the objects and their backgrounds.
The artist also renders the varying textures of the
objects he paints.”
The dinghy in the painting is called ‘Mauri’ and
was built by a retired fisherman in Bluff.
